Which is why a relationship with a HVM is so pleasant & smooth running without many hiccups- it’s very easy to see & feel he respects/ loves you from the get go. You won’t find yourself having many arguments/doubts because he cares about losing you and won’t seek to push boundaries. He’ll do things off his own accord to demonstrate he’s serious.

With a fuckboy this is always a cat and mouse game full of conflicts from the start- because he doesn’t. You’re always asking him for more- more clarity, more time, more respect. He needs to push/pull & cross boundaries for the attention/drama he so badly craves. If he gives you opportunity to doubt his intentions or see him as low value- he clearly does not value your opinion of him & has no interest in taking it somewhere serious.

This is fantastic advice. A dude like that had me under his confusing, manipulative spell playing "will we, won't we" with our friendship for many, many years. I'm still recovering from it and how stupid it all made me feel. NEVER AGAIN.

And it always comes back down to the fact that it's a choice. Abusive men abuse. They choose to do it. If it weren't a choice, they would do it to every person in their life, and that just doesn't happen.

And rather than realizing, "Hey, he doesn't treat anyone else like this, only me, so he's capable of not doing it," somehow the thinking ends up as "Hey, he doesn't treat anyone else like this, only me, so I must be doing something really wrong."
