Do any of you know any black SAHMs? I’ve been thinking a lot about this recently because I don’t. It was unacceptable for the black women in my family to do this. Our motto as women was to always be the hardest worker we know. But to be vulnerable enough to allow a man to take care of you? Unheard of.

I'm a black woman who grew up in Canada. During my school years I grew up with mainly white or friends of other cultures so I learned (from my white friends) how to be more vulnerable and basically stay in my feminine. At the same time I saw my mom have to be the strong black woman and raise a family of 3 while my dad was his LVM self. At one point my mom was going to school, working, and taking care of the house, it was insane! I dont envy her position and I've found that aligning myself with high value people and being vulnerable (I can be a cry baby) has helped me stay out of a self sabotaging trope. Also I date outside my race because I've never met a black man in my social class or higher within my social group.

I'm so fucking glad to get to live in a time where the "strong black woman" imagery finally gets to die. Being strong is fine but when people use your perceived "strength" as a reason to dehumanize and abuse you, it becomes a problem.

The movie 'Unbowed' is a love story between a Black woman and a Native American man, both High Value. & they have amazing chemistry. It is problematic in some ways, such as what's going on in society at the time, but it is SUCH a good movie. It's free on youtube. One woman made a lovely trailer. it might give too much away though so Only watch as much as you need to to convince you to watch the movie! (sorry if this is the wrong place for this comment)
