I don’t know if I’ll catch any flak for this, but I’m gonna try to articulate my thoughts on this...

I used to believe in the fairy tale of “finding a good woman” and living happily ever after with her. I’m also a Christian, and I strongly believe that God intended for the relationship between the sexes to be the ultimate source of joy for humanity. But the emotional and hormonal forces involved in sex are powerful and life-altering (and they should be) once that box is opened the first time, and I believe that sex is the single strongest factor in determining the trajectory of one’s happiness or misery in life. And that’s why, I believe, that Christianity teaches strict rules surrounding sex: abstinence before marriage, and exclusively committed monogamy after. Not because God is looking for an excuse to “get mad at us” or punish us for having sex outside these constraints, but because observing those constraints on sex is the recipe for maximum human happiness. God doesn’t need to punish us for misusing sex, the natural consequences are punishment enough.

I think a lot of the problems in this country can be traced back to the sexual revolution of the 60s and 70s. Sex and marriage are no longer seen or treated as sacred. Sex has been reduced to a tool of manipulation, control, and selfishness. The genders no longer seem interested in each other’s happiness, they just want what their hormones want without any longer term vision beyond the heat of the moment or their next conquest. From reading people’s experiences in this sub and just observing people in general, it’s obvious the cheapening of sex has destroyed much of human happiness, for both men and women. I see it in single moms who can’t comprehend why the guy didn’t want to stick around, in guys who can’t seem to find good women worth committing to, and vice versa (it definitely goes both ways). All this has a destructive effect on society as the nuclear family becomes less a fundamental unit of society and more of a unicorn and a supposed “tool of the patriarchy”.

There’s no way in hell I’d ever date a single mom (I thank this sub and it’s sister sub for helping me learn that), and likewise I also have no willingness to have sex outside of marriage. Not because I don’t want it, but I’ve seen the drama it causes, and I value my freedom and the order in my life too much to risk it all just to get my dick wet. I’ve also been through a false accusation before, and I have no interest in playing along with a gynocentric system that empowers women to perpetrate such atrocities against men.

I personally have never had sex, and I still have my fairy tale of finding a good woman to marry and have lots of romantic loving sex with, but such an arrangement requires her to share my vision of the sanctity of marriage and sex, and for her to love me more than my resources and income, and for that marriage vow of “for better or worse” to actually mean something to her. I’m not convinced such women exist anymore outside of religious environments where there are other brainwashing issues at play (whole separate can of worms, I’m ex-mormon). So I’ve long since given up on my fairy tale fantasy, and will just take pleasure in knowing I’ve dodged a bullet in having my eyes opened to the unfortunate reality of how modern women see men and employ sex in their lives.
