I was seeing this really great guy, but he suddenly broke up with me because he was jealous (for no reason) and irritated that I was so popular among people.

I am a very sweet girl who smiles a lot and is polite, and he would get angry at me for ordering food at a restaurant with a smile, or even saying hello to male colleagues at work (simple greeting, nothing more).

One time he also accused me of checking these two fit guys at the pool, where I never even glanced at them or mentioned them. I was shocked he would even say anything because I was with him and gave him all my attention.

He also felt uncomfortable that I have several male colleagues that I sometimes have to collaborate with (I work in an artistic field).

He would also get angry if one of his guy friends asked me a question and I would answer back. And apparently his friends were all shit testing me and doing stupid things like offering to shake my hand (as a greeting) and if I shook it, I failed, I was supposed to decline to shake their hand.

I would like to stress that I don't have any male friends besides some of the colleagues I have, which are purely work related.

RPW, was his jealousy overboard? I don't wish to get back with him but I'm also wondering if I have a valid reason for him going overboard or if he's just an incredibly insecure person. To give a background his ex girlfriend ran off with another man so that might have something to do with him being overly possessive and jealous. His best friend also had a ex fiancée who ran off with another guy so I feel like he's being influenced to be mistrustful.
