I remember one time a man criticized the movie Spy. It's starring Melissa McCarthy. He said it was ridiculous that we're supposed to think that she can do all these things and that she could hook up with Jason Statham. He called it female wish fulfilment. And it's like he was offended it was allowed. Now, this movie is an action comedy. You're supposed to suspend your disbelief anyway, but he was just so upset by this fat woman on screen doing stuff. So I asked, aren't all action movies starring men just male wish fulfilment? All of the older dudes climbing walls, jumping out of helicopters and having shootouts in the middle of cities. Women out of their league swooning over them. And they're like legit action movies, not action comedies. We're supposed to be into the fact that they can do it. And he shockingly acknowledged it. It's just that this dumbass has just...never thought about it that way. Dude will write a mini essay wondering how Melissa McCarthy can play a spy and hook up with Jason Statham in a comedy. Not to mention that Jason Statham is a short, bald fuck. He's not a male model. But he will spend not a second wondering if male action movies are rEaLiStiC.

And whats with that scene where all the men come together and fight as a team? Obvious male-pandering. Its so unrealistic that they could win a fight without at least one woman there leading them. Ruined the whole movie for me. /s

I've noticed this trend as well. Whenever there's a woman in the leading role, it's either "man-hating" movie or held to unreal standards, as compared to movies with a man in the leading role.

The fact alone that they have to throw such massive hissy fits about fictional women tells me they're just sexists not worth my time. This is one of my criteria: if he can't be objective with fictional women, if he can't respect them, then, he clearly doesn't respect women in general, myself included.

I've written in the past a post about this. The way he talks about fictional women is inevitably the way he'll end up talking and feeling about you as well. If he hates on a fictional woman, but does his everything to backflip a fictional man who is objectively not a person to be admired or emulated, take it as your sign saying, "Girl, run!"

When I heard men criticize Enola Holmes, I immediately watched it and loved it, and recommended it to my younger sister who enjoyed it too and I gave her a history lesson on the Suffragette movement and the Reform Act in England.

YES! It's so amazing that people don't see these movies as the male-valorizing propaganda they are! Like it's so obvious when men watch these movies that they identify with Bruce Willis and think, yea, if I were in that situation, I'd totally be a badass and fight off all the bad guys, yeah, totally.. and when he gets the hot girl in the end, that's how they see themselves ending up too, these movies are part of what teaches them what they're "owed" in life... barf. just cuz it's everywhere doesn't mean it's not propoganda.
