It also happened in science fiction. The awards -- the Nebula and Hugo awards -- used to be a sign of the best writing of the year. Now whatever author can score the most pokemon diversity points wins. Most of the crap produced now isn't remotely science fiction. It is "black, black BLAACK" or "wha-men , wha-men WHA-MENNN" screeching.

I don't think the objective is necessarily about popular IP's themselves. Politics is downstream from culture. And popular media are rly just social engineering by other means. The real objective, I think, is creating essentially one-party rule in American politics. These popular franchises are probably nothing more than just a means to that end.

The fact is, this process of radicalization was once carried out in the colleges and universities. But the 2008 recession meant many people either dropped out or skipped college, thereby abandoning a major leftwing incubation chamber. Those numbers have never completely recovered either. Perhaps not coincidentally, it was after the college numbers became more apparent that the co-opting of these famous IP's became a more aggressive thing.

To put on my tinfoil hat for just a moment, I think the real owners of America (and entertainment empires) are using popular media to plug the holes of hard-left progressivism created by diminished enrollment. Hence, all manner of cultural Marxist programming appears in popular media despite its measurable lack of popularity nationwide. The guilty parties don't care about grownups. They're trying to indoctrinate the children in their weird ass dogmas.

Women and feminists are useful foot soldiers in this whole scheme. But they were never clever enough to come up with something like this on their own. They're just pawns.

I started noticing this the S2 of Jessica Jones. Couldn't finish it because it has become too much emotion talk. Same thing happen to the remaining defenders series.

There are so many examples of this. Now it takes time to filter all the feminist crap when I choose which tv show to watch.

I remember my sister saying she liked Captain Marvel because it's fun to see a strong woman as the hero. Damn, she is 29 and still calls our old father to shovel snow at midnight when she finishes her shift. She is a lesbian, so she asks my father to do all.the crap jobs around their house.

Watching all that feminist crap will make them think they are as string and physically capable as a man, without effort. And this is a form a demise of our society: men become weaker mentally, and women thinking they can do all they want without consequence.

Just guess what's gonna happen during the next war.

It's not just franchises, and it's not only women doing it. Women demanding “inclusion” to the point of dominance is just one of numerous groups claiming victimhood and demanding change to cater to them.

At my job, we do service work and occasionally subcontract to nationwide organizations for local jobs. These organizations are now requiring us to submit “diversity plans” and want to know if our company is majority owned by either women or racial minorities. Seriously, a six-person shop has to provide these. Now, one could easily ask why six women and/or minorities couldn't come together, form their own service company and take on both local and subcontract jobs. The answer is that they want the benefits without taking the risk or investing the time and effort.

While we're a union firm, there isn't much in the way of unionization in the area. The local BA occasionally complained that he wasn't having any luck organizing other servicing companies. I asked him that since he constantly said that the union was a mutually beneficial organization, he should either open his own shop or encourage union members to do so. He would always look at me like I had just passed gas. Why would he take the risk and put in the effort, when it's easier to wait for a company to become profitable then try to attach himself like a parasite onto it?

It's the same with feminists demanding that the franchises you noted cater to women. If a feminist activist truly believes that there are capable female directors, female writers, and competent actresses to be found, she should be willing to gather such women together and produce a decent story and script, then make a good movie. The problem is that this entails a great deal of risk and requires a great deal of effort when compared to demanding that an existing, successful franchise cut them a piece of the action.

Bottom line up front, there's plenty of groups out there demanding a cut of successful organizations, feminists in the entertainment industry are just more visible than most.
