This was my Christmas present from my ex in 2019. When FDS says men will say whatever the hell they want to get laid, it's true. This gift was from a man who declared I was the love of his life while he was still living with his ex-fiancée. I found this out while I was overseas and I never recovered from it. If I ever meet that poor woman, I'd give her a hug and congratulate her for leaving before committing to a lifetime with him. I felt sick to my stomach when I found out and totally enraged for this girl all at the same time. It took me MONTHS to get over because there were so many layers of disgust and hurt to work through.

This is how little this man truly knew me: yes, I like Rick and Morty. But I am a minimalist and insist that people do not buy me Christmas presents for the sake of it. I would have thought (being the PMAB I was back then) that someone telling me I was his soul mate would get me a slightly more thoughtful gift.

Anyway, around October last year, a new girl joined us at work. Turns out my ex was trying to pull the same shit on her too while he was still engaged. He cheated on that poor girl so many times. She's levelled up though and is now dating someone that our ex works with. He tried to have a word to this new man about "boundaries" and was just laughed at by all of his colleagues because they are all aware of what he did to her.

I swear these men just shop for themselves. I bet it pained him to hand over that cup...but he also got comfort from knowing he'd get to use it whenever 🙄

The fact that he didn't care about your minimalist nature is so true of LVM. They just look at a surface image and fill in the blanks with what they want.

Two years ago for my birthday my LVM ex did take me to a nice dinner (probably around $200 if I were to guess, steaks, wine, etc) but no actual gift for my birthday. It was embarrassing to explain that the two dozen roses that got delivered to my work were from my parents 🥴🥴🥴

Well, Holidays are great vetting opportunities to discover who the LVMs truly are. I was going out with someone who masqueraded as HVM since August. He planned a date almost each week until the holidays came. We discussed our availablity for the holidays, - he was off and I was off and that we're not visiting our families this year due to Covid reasons. We discussed all the fun activities that would be great to do when we have time off work. He seemed really into it, and said he would research it. He used to call me almost every day before the holidays. When I would text him, he would almost always call right back.

And then right around the holidays, he suddenly got quiet. No calls, no texts. I was concerned something had happened to him and so I texted him. This was the first time I initatied contact. I used to let him chase me and make plans 100%. Then after several hours ( unusally tardy response) he finally called & said everything was good, but that he was "busy" with stuff around the house and having trouble keeping a sleeping schedule, not that he did not have the "structure" of work to keep him organized. After that explanation , I did not text him, call him or made any other contact. The silence on his end continued.

That was a red flag . A man who does not have the internal strenght/discipline to maintain his life independently, w/o the external stimulus, is an LVM. Of course, now that he had all this time on his hands all of a sudden, he made no plans to do any of the things we were discussing. Did not call me or set up times to meet.

On Christmas, all I got was a low effort ' Merry Christmas " text. No call, no nothing. I was worried something was wrong when this was the only comms I had from him that day. ( He used to call me every day) So I asked if he was ok, and he proceeds telling me how he got himself a present, a piano keyboard and has been spending all the time trying to remember how to play it. No present for me, not even a card or chocoloates. I got the sinking feeling that he;s so preoccupied with his " new hobby" that he doesn;t even have time to talk to me anymore... He basically forgot about me, - during the holidays!

And he completely ignored the New Year. Not even a text for that. Then the first monday of the 2021 work week comes around, nothing. Tuesday, nothing. The guy basically went silent for 2 weeks during the holidays... At which point - that Tuesday night I dumped him. Trash shows their true colors during the holidays. No HVM who has been seeing you for the past 4 months /every week would completely ignore you / forget about you during the holidays.

The sad thing is my ex never got me anything, in a year and a half over two birthdays over two birthdays, Christmas and valentines day, not even a cup.
