I visited 4 different firms and had 30 minute consults and also had 3 different phone calls with other firms, also 30 mins, all for free.

If I am dropping at least 15k, let me “test drive” your firm.

Paying anything for a consult is insane to me.

Interview them all. Pick the one who talks the most .trust your gut. My ex spent 100k+ . She is still spending. I have spent about 15k just responding to her bullshit .if I learned anything its that the courts don’t care about anything other than the kids being safe and joint custody. Which is good if you want to be in the kids lives.

I settled mine with a mediator, saved a ton of money. Just had one lawyer to do the court documents and stuff. But I know a lot cases are not that simple.

Getting a good lawyer may seem like a lot now, but can save thousands in the long run

If your divorce is non contested try looking for a flat fee. 1st time through I burned 5k just getting started. Tried reconciliation, filed a 2nd time. I interviewed a few and found one who was willing to do the whole thing for 5k. Catch is I can't bombard him with crap. I had her proposal sent over which was 50/50 everything, so I am not fighting for anything. And he responds when he can, which sometimes can be a week or more. But that's worth it to know I am paid in full out of the gate.
