50/50 isnt law in New York. And CS isn't a sliding scale either here. Its 17% whether you have 0% or 49%. Yay!

God, if I lived in Oregon my life would be perfect. So sad that everything hinges on which state you live in.

Thanks for reaching out. The only argument she's put forward to me is that it is unstable for our son (5) to have two different homes. According to her, he needs stability. Once final, I will live no further than 6 miles away in either my parent's home or my own.

My ex made the same argument. It is not supported by data (except for very young kids). Fight for more time. I did and got it. She ultimately caved on the eve of trial. It’s been over a year now post-divorce and our daughter is doing great. She’s 10 yo, btw. I bought a house 2 blocks away from the ex to make it easier for the kid and our families.
You can do this!

My man thank you!! You're doing exactly what I want to do. I want our boy to have as little disruption as possible. We can take him to the same parks in the same neighborhood and I can be flexible with time. Shoot, if mom really wants to see him because its, let's say, his grandpa's birthday, I'll drop him off in an hour, no problem.
My wife is very controlling and difficult but I've got this I think.
Thanks for the support man

My ex is the same. Drove her crazy that she didn’t get to dictate terms, timing, etc. You will be so happy when it is done. It is worth it. Mine was protracted but we kept it mostly very civil. I highly recommend getting a divorce coach for yourself (in addition to a good attorney). It was the best thing I did. Helped me keep things child-focused and was cheaper than whining to my lawyer.

Thanks man. Divorce coach? Ok, sounds good to me.
Yeah, she definitely wants to dictate terms as she's done for 5 years. I think she held up the child support carrot to see if I was really more interested in the money. I'm not.

Thanks man! I just want fairness for parents and child. I'm not looking to rip him away from his mother. I think 50/50 is best for him and our family.

No doubt. We both work full time. She works 35 minutes away, I work 15 minutes away, she earns more.
Before I initiated divorce, I did most of the day to day care. Since then she has tried to be super mom. She even chained our laundry room doors closed so I wouldn't be able to wash our son's clothes, a task I did almost exclusively for years.

That's all good. Do courts find that to be a reason not to award 50/50? In other words, would they prevent 50/50 to ensure that the father and not the mother pays?
