A lesser talked about female privilege is the cost of life insurance. It's more expensive if you're a man. Just got this in the mail. Imagine the outcry if the reverse were true.

It has to do with the fact that men die earlier and are more likely to be the breadwinner of the family.

That being said, in the US, women used to pay more for health insurance just as men pay more for life insurance and (if younger) car insurance. Then, Obamacare eliminated the gender differences in insurance and tacked on all sorts of free shit for women - kind of like if your car insurance gave you free oil changes and tire rotations.

So of course, many young, healthy men saw their premiums skyrocket year after year and simply got rid of their insurance, got high deductible insurance, or got short-term insurance. There used to be a tax penalty, but Trump got rid of that.

This is the literal example of male tax. You pay more solely for being a man. Start identifying as a woman. If the game is rigged, then you use the loopholes to your advantage.

It makes sense and is based on data. However, it’s basically like preexisting conditions which I personally do not agree with since health insurance is very much necessary for a lot if not all of the population.

Men have a higher average income because they take more risky jobs. Men tend to have more risky hobbies, most firefighters and police officers are men risking their lives. Mend tend to die from violence more often than women.

These are all facts I see here often enough in other discussions so we can't just ignore them when it comes to life insurance policies.

We should be better than the average feminist and try to see things more accurately. We shouldn't be cherry picking things like they tend to do.

The reverse is true for long-term care for the same reason, that being women live longer than men. Women also pay more if they get short term disability since most with policies will have a claim if they ever have kids.

This is largely based on empirical statistics rather than stemming from gender discrimination. Men generally have a shorter life expectancy, undertake more precarious occupations and lead riskier lifestyles. The same is true for vehicle insurance. Statistically, women are more prudent drivers and are less likely to be involved in accidents.

While this is unfair for men who deviate from their demographic norms and present a lower overall risk, women also face this unfairness. Health insurance are generally more expensive for women with all other factors zeroed out. This is because they typically live longer than men and therefore likely to enjoy longer payouts.

Screw insurance, why should men leave anything for women? If I were married to any of the creatures that pass for women nowadays, I'd lie and tell her I had insurance when I didn't, just for a last laugh. I'd use some of the money I'd spend on a life insurance policy, and buy a prepaid burial policy (so I wouldn't end up in a cardboard box if the the wife planned my funeral).

I've never really looked into life insurance but why isn't BMI, exercise level, overall fitness, diet, illness etc factored into these prices?

They used to get killed on health insurance though until the Affordable Care Act banned gender or age based premiums.

So they have that privilege their health costs more to insure so now men have to offset that cost too
