The fact that men’s issues are largely (or entirely) ignored by the body positivity movement shows it’s mainly about overweight women wanting to be victims
Because her "journey" wasn't about going from 250 to 105 lbs. It was because it showed a skinny woman getting healthy. The ad wasn't about weight loss. It was about motivation, health, goals. Totally missed by 99% who watched it. So in essence everyone they aren't looking to sell a Pelaton to.
My gf and I watched that ad and thought it was a perfectly normal peloton ad just about a woman getting in better cardio shape through a nice present.
Didn't think twice about it but pelotons are expensive and we have workout equipment already. I clearly was neither the target audience for the product nor the target audience of the constantly offended.
I own one and love it. It got me out of my rut. I don’t talk to anyone about it unless they ask. Yeah, I’m better off than most, but the people who ask are never other rich people.
You might be partially right, but I'm not sure that's the point. It's a product that transcends fitness and materialism. It really seems to be for those that are "stuck" - therefore it's the perfect ad.
Dude, that's like 80% of feminism right there. That and post-wall women who are bitter their looks faded and guys don't pay them much attention anymore.
See also: the outrage in the UK over the beach body ad from a few years back...
No I think you're reading this completely wrong. There would have been plenty of outrage from these landwhales, even if she had bought the trainer herself. Only feminists are angered that the man bought it. This went way beyond feminists. It's general female angst.
Women childishly freak out when reality presents a nasty problem to them which
men can't/won't fix for them
other women can't help them forget/ignore by cooing, sympathy, feeeeelings, and trash talking
Women don't work enough or in unpleasant high-paying enough jobs to pay for their healthcare, retirement, other government services? Let male taxpayers subsidize them.
Your boyfriend was insensitive? Your girlfriends will trash talk him for you.
Something breaks in your house? You buy a new one or make a man fix it.
Women suck at advanced mathematics and systematic thinking? Get men in tech to start a "women in STEM" hysteria for you and discriminate against male job applicants, creating a woman-friendly tech-kindergarten.
Someone said something mean to you at work? Create a huge HR system to make the entire organization a giant kindergarten.
You got drunk and had sex but felt slutty afterwards? Create a huge school administration and kangaroo courts to kick "rapists" out of school based on an anonymous whisper.
You got fat and unattractive by eating crap processed food? Only your fat friends will commiserate? Your entire existence was predicated on the fact that you're female and thus worth helping? Checkmate.
It's all about the numbers for them... not enough women CEO, not enough women in politics, not enough women in leading roles in Hollywood...
...but what happens when it's the reverse? There's now way less men who graduate at higher levels of education than women... feminists don't talk about that. Men have alarming suicide rates... feminists don't talk about that. There are many jobs where men are outnumbered by women... feminists don't talk about that.
It's all about the numbers, but only the numbers that make them look like victims.
Then you have bullshit like "Women cant find eligible (college educated) men to marry". Bitch its your problem youre hypergamous and refuse to date down when more women have degrees. FFS women are so fuckin unaware of the consequences of their actions. Its always the mens' fault for their problems.
I just got a 1 year ban from the feminism mods for a comment about a shirt. The question asked was about a man wearing a shirt with a feminst slogan. I posed the same question but with the genders reversed. I don't think the feminists around here care too much about what men think.
Feminists talk about body positivity then shit over Ron Jeremy for being an obscene pornstar. I have contempt for movement for that reason and for pushing fat pride which is only encouraging a massive health crisis and I say that as a fat man.
He was handsome if hairy back in the 70's. Not souch anymore. Feminist hate him for fucking gorgeous women far above what they preceive as his station.
To be fair, it's really not unpopular. I browse r/all and got here. I also never actually saw anything to that tone, despite all the other madness. People usually ignore them and do agree that yes, it's unhealthy.
They could cry all they want, that's one double standard they won't get going.

Shocked it got as high as it did before it was removed.
Sometimes I wish I had the time/resources to watch and record this kind of thing happening, but it happens a lot. I've followed multiple threads that got censored by a sub's mods because the thread posted facts proving OP was lying or incorrect. I know for certain that a particular feminist sub or a particular moderator of that sub pseudo-shadow-banned (I don't know a better term) me by removing my comments as soon as they were posted. I PMed the mods a couple of times because the mystery behind it was bugging me (I wondered if it was a rogue mod that I pissed off). They responded to my evidence that all of my comments after a certain date were removed as soon as they got posted by assuring me I wasn't "banned". After a few more exchanges with mods from the sub, suddenly my comments stopped being immediately removed.
There is an enormous amount to be learned by following what gets censored and by whom, and by what method. I know reddit tracks all of it, but I don't know what they use the information for.
The amount of censoring that happens to contradictory opinions really scares me. I used to think the people who talked about "shills" and "censorship" on reddit were idiots, but holy shit it's like an Huxleyan noisebox now
Fat women think the media should exist for one reason and one reason only: to make them feel good about their bodies.
So the Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, the Guardian does exactly that. Every article is about how real women have curves, this plus-sized model is redefining "beauty", how it takes a REAL MAN to deal with a real woman etc etc etc. There's like ten headlines they reuse hundreds of times a year.
That why if fat women see any newspaper article, any TV program or any movie that ISN'T about how their fat body is great then they think it's sexist and totally unacceptable.
This is what leads to policing women's bodies.
If you see someone trying to police women's bodies, or control women's bodies, that is a woman.
Men never do that, because they don't care.
But women are in competition with all other women. So they very much DO care.
Fat women find slim women and healthy women totally unacceptable and try to stop them getting any kind of public attention. They tell them what to do with their bodies, they tell the media not to publish images of their healthy bodies, they call on people to NOT show support for the way they look.
Fat women are the only women who should be supported. That's why we need feminism.
I got banned on twox recently for calling out thin shaming. I dont know WHY I even commented. There was a comment about "real women" and I just could not take it. My comments were actually upvoted, but the woman I replied to was rabid and it devolved pretty quickly. She called me a bitch and yet I was the one banned. Banned for saying having a flat stomach is possible and you dont need cellulite to be a "real woman." Ridiculous.
I have been banned from multiple places after defending myself against people who throw personal insults at me. It is like throwing the kid into detention that punched his bully back while being attacked. Mods are a bunch of morons with massive biases.
You got banned on any 2xc or feminist forum is only proving that you are a sane headed person. One of the problem is they find it difficult to prove their points and give up quite quick. Then go banshee mode, ban you and shout 'fascism' at others who question them. Totally expected and the true feminist way.
And this fat bitch had the nerve to tell me at the end that, " I wish I were the one men looked at." You said you are too fat to shop in Victoria's Secret (they carry XL), but you think men are lusting after you? The level of delusion is astounding.
You obviously don't follow the houseplant hobbyist group on Facebook. Nudes EVERYWHERE this week. Male and female- celebrated equally. I guess it all depends on what forums you expose yourself to.
I tried to bring in a little bit of a personal touch into an online discussion lately. No empathy. The victim card isn't made for guys like me. I pulled it anyway just for the sake of fairness and it proved that there is none.
I was just talking today with someone older. He was scared to say anything and said we need to be politically correct and I said what for? People must stop these glutonous urges and freaking consume resources unnecessarily. Fat people have mental and health issues and they need help to get out of that state for better for themselves and this world. But noooo they would rather want to be brainwashed and victimized and pay with their own health to corporations who are very happy to destroy your thoughtless lives. If you fat person want to participate in self destruction then please do it on your dime and not taxpayers and system. You can spend all that money on food but not healthcare or help yourself and be more healthy? Its not about religion, sins or whatever old stupid traditions. I get it, some have a gene or some other rare disease and cant help much but the rest? This clown world needs to be stopped and ppl need to speak up goddamn it LOL. These ppl hurt themselves, how is that normal!?
Take care of yourselves.
Thats it. I was never obese but had 23% body fat and cut it down to 18 and trying lower.
Well, whatever graced by feminism disintegrates automatically by itself.
Movement should not have been about 'accepting fatties as cuties', but about acknowledging that some people can have unexpected health issues we are unaware, become fat. Also, even if some depressed person is careless about their food habits, people should leave them be. There should not be a hate movement, but a kind of tolerance or 'live and let live' kind of acceptance.
But women appeasement cult took it over and now here we are.
Well I don't think it's very body positive for a woman to say she loves her body because she's glad she is not a twig OR when a woman says she loves her body because she's not a whale...
That is literally Body positivity according to women. Claiming to love their bodies to tear down other body types.
I can not imagine men doing this. Men aren't in this "body positivity" Campaigns for logical reasons.
Of course, the sensible reaction is the one at the bottom of the comments section.
Does OP want a bunch of women to do his work for him? Why aren't we asking OP to share his ideas for activism? Why is everyone just jerking him off for whining?
Lol, instead of replying or integrating the comments under your downvoted one you create another comment complaining about the subreddit you're in. Seems pretty bigoted.
Or maybe because in a lot of mainstream shows an overweight guy is with a fit and attractive woman? Maybe it’s because being a man and overweight is less stigmatized? Maybe? Or you’re right, fat men are under siege and the body positivity movement has left them behind because they only care about fat women who have life too easy.
Less stigmatized? You clearly have never been a fat guy. No people are far more likely to bully and harass you over it for one simple fact. Fat women are still women and people will stand up for them more often if they appear to be being mistreated.
A weight loss and fitness app targeted me claiming to be "for everyone" and tailored for my individual needs. Then it offered no male options at all. They made sure to include vegetarians but not men. A pamphlet in Publix did a similar thing, talking about exercise as important for health in gender neutral terms and then showing pics of dozens of girls and no guys. Women DO get drastically more support on this. To the point where I feel like I am sort of not regarded as a person by whole corporations.
Apparently men (almost 50% of people) are not part of "everyone" and are not individuals but vegetarians (less than 4% of people) are. I'm vegetarian and this still feels like a major insult.
All people have rights. If you whiney men were standing up to the rights of all humans, say the Hmong, the differently abled, women, children, etc, you would make a better case for yourselves.
