Meth? Run and don't look back!!!

I am so serious! Run far, far away from the situation that is unfolding here. This drug is highly addictive, and ruins everyone who begins using it. There's a saying: A thief will steal your stuff. A tweaker will steal your stuff and help you look for it.

There's no comparison to pot and psychedelics. Meth is so much worse it belongs in a class of its own.

This cannot be helped by pussyfooting around. Forget his feelings, relationship etiquette, all of that out the window. You'll never hear me say this more unequivocally about a relationship on here: RUN! FOR YOUR LIFE!

Run, there are more captains. This suggestion is from past experience. There is nothing good about meth. There is no such thing as social use. It has the huge potential to replace you as best friend.

You obviously have no idea what meth is or how addictive and life ruining it is. Research it and I think you'll know the answer. You don't casually smoke or casually quit meth like it's weed.

I feel like its one of those things where you have to set clear boundaries to him. Unfortunately, drugs basically can take over a person - my wife has accused, jokingly, of video games stealing the relationship from her. Drugs can do the same, in a much more extensive and irreversible way.

Leave him or be prepared to: Save up for hospital trips from ODs, Save up for bail when he gets arrested, Buy a safe to keep your money in to keep it away from him - he'll spend it all on meth, Be okay with him hanging out with other meth whores, Be prepared to get a better job, and be able to support the both of you - he'll be too high to care about work. He isn't smoking a joint at the end of a long day with his dad. He is doing meth with a divorced wife beater.

You would tell him in no uncertain terms that drugs are a deal breaker for you. If he continues with the behavior leave him. It is as simple as that. This was not something you had to deal or contend with at the start of your relationship and you don't wish to have it be a part of it now.

Get out of there. I've known plenty of drug-addicts, some as young as 14 some as old as my 60 year old uncle who just had a heart attack with meth in his system. There is a very small chance of "casually" doing meth "for fun". He may be doing that... for now, but that will soon change. People generally become VERY dangerous within a short period after they start doing drugs, be it by stealing from their friends, being emotional vampires, hanging out with criminals, etc.

I'm so sorry. I'll never forget the feeling of the first time I heard one of my close friends tell me she started shooting up. It's hard to reason with them as well, as we all know. The mixture of his less-than-satisfactory father figure and now drugs coming into the mix is not good.

This is not something you can gently raise the issue and work around. If he was smoking pot occasionally to relax, that's one thing - a pretty easy thing to leave behind and not pick up again. Meth is addictive and destructive. This is a dealbreaker and you need to treat it as such. That includes telling him "Using meth is a dealbreaker for me" and leaving if he doesn't stop this right away.

That he voluntarily used an illegal, dangerous, highly addictive drug as a grown-ass adult is a huge red flag, and certainly not indicative of Captain material. RUN, DON'T WALK.

Really simple be very clear and level ie no emotion this is not a feeling thing this is cut and dry. I speak from experience my husband in his teens was very into coke he had been clean 6 mos when we met again and started dating. I had met him years before well he was still very much in the middle of his addiction. After a month we hung out with some of his old friends one night and he did a bit. I waited till late the next day when I was sure he was clear headed and told him I needed to know if he was going to do it again that it was his choice and he could but if he did I would need to go my own way. At this point I was in love with him and knew I would marry him if we stayed together. I told him if he needed time to think it was fine but he said no he didn't want to do it again and didn't know why he had. that was 8 yrs ago. To this day there are guys at his work he wont talk to because they talk about doing coke on weekends he told me when ppl talk about it he can smell it and feel it. He says he will never do it again because if he did it would be the end of life for him. I'm talking about cocaine meth makes cocaine seem like candy necklaces. Your love for him can not and will not save him. if he keeps hanging out with his dad he will do it again. Run don't walk don't look back run ,run until you can't breath run until your to tired to love him RUN! now that he's had a taste this will not end. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this and in the end it's up to you but I stand by what I said. don't live a life of regret because you stayed with him. Hard highly addictive drugs don't just take down bad ppl they can and will take down anyone in their path.

As a person in recovery (35M) that used meth for 5 yrs, there's absolutely nothing you can do about what happens next.

You're going to be completely powerless over everything, simply because he's going to be powerless over his own behavior should he continue to use it. Doesn't matter the frequency of use. It can start off slow. It'll progress. His behavior will change. That will progress.

You'll cry. Scream. Fight. Yell. Try to get thru to him. And maybe one day you will. But he'll be different. But he's using. He's supposed to change. And they won't be good changes. But you're not using. And it's going to change you.

If he stops now. Sweet. If he doesn't, you don't want to be 1st mate on the S.S Shitshow.

This is an alt account so I can share a greater level of personal detail for clarity in helping others learn from my life experience. I'm a regular over on TRP, how do you do?

I came by to tell you about my crazy ex of a dozen years ago, who relapsed and started using meth again after we'd been happily together almost a year. I tried to save her and couldn't; then tried to repel her and couldn't. She gaslighted me, tried to turn all friends/neighbors/relatives against me, stole things, destroyed irreplaceable mementos of my childhood and other things she knew I especially valued; for a time even the local SHERIFF believed I was the instigator of all the drama. If only I had nipped things in the bud when I could! Here's the copypasta.

Crazy ex stalked me, she was so obsessed that she skipped court ordered supervised visits with her child from a previous relationship just to double back and check up on me, which was a big factor in her permanently losing all of her parental rights to that child.

The main event at the end dragged on. For weeks she disrupted my sleep, showing up at all hours crying and banging on my door. Then she started breaking in as I slept, but running off into the night before the sheriff could arrive.

Finally one night I was nearly insane from sleep deprivation and head games/gaslighting. I screwed all of the doors and windows shut from the inside, did a sweep of the whole house to make sure I was alone, and she STILL got inside again and wrote crazy shit on one of the walls in permanent magic marker from ceiling to floor and was chilling on the couch when I awoke late the next morning.

Not long after that, she showed up and made a loud scene and broke a window and my doorframe trying to get into the house as I held the splintering door closed. Even though all of the neighbors spilled out of their houses and witnessed the whole thing with half a dozen 911 calls, she STILL got away again before the police arrived.

Finally there were witnesses and tangible damage, and I was able to get the police and DA to take me seriously (male victim of domestic violence) and get an emergency protective order. Finally the police dispatch ladies treated my calls with a modicum of respect instead of "If she's not there any more there's nothing we can do kthxbye! <click!>"

This woman was so crazy determined to keep bothering me that she showed up in court to contest the restraining order KNOWING she had warrants for her arrest. The judge listened to both of us, granted me the order for the maximum three years, then two deputies appeared behind her and led her out of court in handcuffs. That was the last time I ever saw or heard from her.

It was at least another week before I finally slept soundly the whole night.

I kept having to go back and reread. Meth is serious. I would say things are pretty perfect with my dude and I but if I found out he did meth I would be gone yesterday.

I would let him know how concerned you are but ultimately it will be way to easy to get sucked into the black hole that is drugs if you don't leave now. Leave, tell him why and that you hope he gets help for not thinking meth is a big deal. He is a grown man. There is nothing that I can come up with to justify why he would do such a thing voluntarily even if Jesus himself handed it to him.

Meth?! Are you fucking serious? Get out now or tell him to. Meth is not fun and if he does it one more time be prepared to lose the person you are with. It is all bad on the Meth train, there's only one stop, Cracktown. You should consider telling him to never see his father again too. What kind of father offers meth to his son. What a fucking loser.

Remember, you are about to lose the person you are with unless you take drastic action. Do not take this lightly and do not accept any answer aside from him agreeing to never do meth again and probably never see his father again. Sounds harsh but it's nothing compared to the reality you will soon face.
