That's horseshit, women on average live longer than men so they should be able to retire earlier. Wait a second.

On the other hand, nobody would wanna work with a 70 year old cranky woman who can't work with a computer

I would love to work with my grandma if that meant she could be alive today :c

I'm sorry man. At least you had some good years. My grandma refuses to die but I seldom visit her because every time I do she just preaches about Jesus and end-times and how I'm not living right. I'm 34, have a career, a house, and no criminal history but I'm not living right.

[–]GloriousGardener 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pretty sure the jesus ate the logic center of her brain as retribution for reincarnating him into, and then eating, crackers every week for the past 80 years.

Women Against State Pension Age Inequality (WASPI) said they would continue their campaign to win compensation for those who were unaware that their state pension age was going to rise. "Equalisation is not just about the age you reach retirement, but also your ability to generate a full state pension entitlement, and pay into a private pension, to have any hope of security in retirement," said Debbie de Spon, a spokesperson for WASPI.

If you think about it they already have. By raising the pension age that means that there are five more years that women can work and the last years of your working life are usually your highest paid therefore this should help even out for the women who will be working until 65 instead of 60.

[–]sagetrees 89 points90 points91 points 7 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

This is the part of the article I don't understand:

"Women in their 50s and older have lost out most, but younger women face penalties too, as all pensions - state, workplace and private pensions - discriminate against women," she said.

Then they never say what exactly all these pensions do to discriminate. For fucks sake I am a woman, and I have a pension, and I live in the UK and I am really not seeing how its any different to the pensions my male colleagues have.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They basically say it discriminates because women need larger pension pots in order to fund their longer retirements resulting from equal pensionable age.

If two people retire at 60 with 10k, the one who is expected to die at 65 will get 2k a year, but the one expected to die at 70 will only get 1k a year, resulting in a lower standard of living for them.

That's where the debate starts around pensions and women living longer than men.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I thought the point was that women have simply typically paid less in, so get less out; the article calls out lower paid part time roles, etc.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That is another factor. Even with pay equality, the age gap will still result in men receiving more.

[–]run_mochila1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Receiving more what? The math above gives an equal dollar amount to both men and women.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Eh?

Hypothetical:

Pension age is 60.

men die at 65

women die at 70

situation of pay equality has them both hitting pension age with 10k

10k/5yrs is 2k/yr

10k/10yrs is 1k/yr

Both the hypothetical man and woman here finish with 10k in their pension accounts, but the woman, because she lives longer, has to spread her repayments over more years, meaning less money per year.

Am I missing something here?

[–]Taure 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Am I missing something here?

Been 16 days since you wrote this but here's the way it works: usually when you retire, you draw down on your pension pot, whatever that may be. With that money you purchase an annuity, which is a financial product offered by insurance companies which pays out a regular amount of money until you die. The longer you live, the more money you get, because it just keeps coming at the same rate. It's basically a gamble on how long you'll live, because you could end up dying the day after you purchase the annuity and get nothing.

I mean, that’s historically caused by the fact that it’s much more difficult for a woman to get a job where she’s able to provide for the family because of sexism.

But don’t let me interrupt all of you guys jerking off with each other.

Edit : Now I'm not being productive. The whole point I was attempting to make is that this person clearly posted this to try and refute the comment. They are not changing anyone's mind by simply stating their claim that comes off as an unproven opinion. If they are actually trying to productively refute it, I think it would be much more effective to post a link or anything that might actually educate someone who believes the original claim.

You mean like how historically we died at 40 so the pension doesn't matter?

Oh wait, that has nothing to do with the discussion. How odd of me to bring that up as if it were important.

[–]Brusanan 130 points131 points132 points 7 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Lol. I'm sure women in the past would have much preferred doing backbreaking work 100 hours a week while their husbands stayed home to raise the kids instead.

Women had the privilege of living an easier life. You can pretend they somehow had it worse because they couldn't choose to work, but at the same time, men couldn't choose not to work. Both sides had a similar lack of choice, but men sacrificed much, much more to ensure their families were taken care of.

Any Feminist who thinks that working a soul-crushing job for way too many hours is somehow a privilege, is privileged enough that she has never had to work that kind of job. Chances are she lacks the perspective needed to even start to compare which side is actually privileged.

[–]HandsomeJock 34 points35 points36 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Dang. Nail on the head buddy. Congrats, couldn't have said it better myself

[–]dontFart_InSpaceSuit 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i dated a feminist before i met my fiancee. not like the casual kind, but the kind who makes sure everyone knows that she is a feminist.

fast forward to her losing control of her emotions during one of the fights that led me to dump her. she was mad i wasn't ready to move in together. one thing led to another, and she ends up cry screaming 'nobody told me i was going to actually have to keep working my whole life'.

what a fucking joke she was. that's like my 12th best story from dating her, too.

Women had and continue to have more difficulty making the big bucks because fewer women have high-value skills. It's a competency gap, not a wage gap.

[–]EpiphanyDistributor 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

if you make "sexism" an excuse for why this is instead of not just beating them at their own game, that means you were never good enough to begin with

[–]Mythandros 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That may have been the case 50+ years ago, but that is not how it is now.

The law needs to be changed to more accurately represent the people of today, not people 50+ years ago.

Nope thats illegal under UK (EU law) from 2012 car insurance and pensions cant be based on gender (i.e different rates) it used to be the case men would get more precisely because they died earlier.

But from 2012 it violates EU law

Ehh, we cant spend the entire argument demanding equality of opportunity instead of equality of outcome, only to do a 180 as soon as it's convenient.

Just take the W

[–]jasoncm 32 points33 points34 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Pretty sure that was the joke.

[–]XxxRDTPRNxxX1 points 7 years ago* [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link

Yes, yes it was. All calls for equality of outcome are essentially a joke.

[–]jasoncm 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Not all, but I read it as "if we wanted to consistently apply the logic that led to the imbalance in the first place then we would overcorrect in the following manner..."

I'm sure some people mean the argument in all sincerity, but it's such an absurd argument that I choose to treat it as a joke.

[–]XxxRDTPRNxxX1 points 7 years ago* [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

Not all...

[–]Metalageddon 93 points94 points95 points 7 years ago (75 children) | Copy Link

But... They explained it all.

women tend to work lower paying and part time jobs, contributing less to the national fund

That's... That's why. The reason is right fucking there. You don't deserve more for doing less.

Anyways, pass denied. It's equal, which is more fair than it was, but it's not truly fair, though I'm a guy, so I'm used to dealing with the unfair. It's a good step in the right direction.

[–]SleepDeprivedUserUK[S] 31 points32 points33 points 7 years ago (66 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately equality comes in small steps, women reach for the top shelf standing on the backs of men, they don't want to climb.

[+]courtnovo -11 points-10 points-9 points 7 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

Hey man I'm huge on mens rights and true equality. You can go fuck yourself with that comment. I work harder than most men and women I know. If I have something I earned it. I've never even as a child expected things handed to me.

[–]EpiphanyDistributor 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

cool anecdote sis

[–]courtnovo 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Why is it there's a woman who fully supports real equality for men and I'm a bad guy because I'm a woman?

[–]EpiphanyDistributor 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

[–]courtnovo 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

[–]EpiphanyDistributor 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

likely because your account was anecdotal

[–]courtnovo 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So what I say couldnt possibly be true or reliable because of their personal experiences. Ffs, I really want there to be true equality and I understand why men feel the way they do against some women but seriously little by little get why women dont want to be bothered with men. Yeah a lot of women may be mooches but working in a field that is typically a mans job has shown me men are more cry babies than an actual newborn.

[–]EpiphanyDistributor 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]courtnovo 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thank you! I truly hate feminists who call for equality when it only benefits them. Men get the short end of the stick so much. They lose out on a job they deserve or are more qualified for to a woman just because they have to hire women yet are expected to do the shit women cant like lift heavy shit etc. for the same pay. Its disgusting. Women should have to retire at the same age. If they cant do the job by themselves then they shouldnt get the job or get less pay. Men should help out in the house or have an equal switch up. I know some men and women are old school where the woman does this and the man does that and if they like that go for it. But if you are in the workplace and you wanna be equal, you better pull your equal share no matter what gender you are and not trash talk either gender who do their part. Not all women want everything handed to them. Not all men are a "pos" like your baby daddy.

[–]Chilnwitdabrze 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You attacked your opponent's character or personal traits in an attempt to undermine their argument.

Ad hominem attacks can take the form of overtly attacking somebody, or more subtly casting doubt on their character or personal attributes as a way to discredit their argument. The result of an ad hom attack can be to undermine someone's case without actually having to engage with it.

Example: After Sally presents an eloquent and compelling case for a more equitable taxation system, Sam asks the audience whether we should believe anything from a woman who isn't married, was once arrested, and smells a bit weird.

I don't necessarily wholeheartedly disagree with you... But the OP made a blanket statement about all women. And I know plenty of women who earned what they have, aren't pro-feminist, and treat men like fellow human beings who have their own perfectly valid struggles.

[–]AdHomimeme 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's a generalization that is statistically supported. Given the choice, women work less, at lower paying jobs, if they even work, yet want more in pension benefits.

[–]ihadtotypesomething 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Except the comment I responded to said "women stand on the shoulders of men" and don't want to climb... Or some shit like that. My mom and sister certainly didn't do that shit. Any defense of his statement is completely wrong, in my opinion, because he said "women"... Not "some women."

Others have warned that even though their state pension ages may now be the same, men and women are still far from equal when it comes to pensions. Figures show that in 2017 the average woman's state pension was worth Β£126 a week, compared with the average man's at Β£154.

Ok, but you just said that women are expected to live three years longer than men.

A girl born in 1951 had a life expectancy of 82 years. A girl born today can expect to reach the age of 93. Over the same period, boys' life expectancy has increased from 77 years to 90.

So is it really??

[–]Me_ADC_Me_SMASH 41 points42 points43 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]SleepDeprivedUserUK[S] 40 points41 points42 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're right, we should euthanise women so they die at the same expected age as men πŸ™„

[+]c3n7uri0n1 points 7 years ago [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link

Some basic maths tells us that between retirement and average age of death, women will get 183k and men will get 200k. So even with 3 year shorter life expectancy, men are getting more. For equality, women should get Β£137 a week.

Just because feminists are hypocrites doesn't mean we should sink to their level. Now that we've got pension age equality, we should be fighting for equality in amount, not because it benefits us but because it's the right thing to do.

[–]JazielLandrie 38 points39 points40 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Literally from the article:

Women typically earn less from their state pension than men, as they tend to work in more lowly-paid and part-time jobs and therefore pay lower National Insurance Contributions.

[–]asaasa19831 points 7 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]GingerSnapBiscuit 10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article also states the reason women's pensions are lower is due to lower lifelong contributions, something else that will equalise more and more in he future as women working is the norm now where 40/50 years ago it was less so.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

/r/MensRights/comments/9tuztv/so_we_uk_have_heard_a_fair_bit_about_pensions_and

More men work full time, Men work more hours, in higher paying jobs. Men work more overtime and unsociable hours. Workplace fatalities are almost an entirely male phenomena, and life expectancy is lower.

Women: work part time, work in lower paid professions, take more time off, work far less overtime, therefore pay less taxes and live longer. So perhaps the WASPIs (Women Against State Pension Inequality) who protested this week should wind their necks in; it seems women aren't paying their fair share, and expect the taxpayer to subsidise them. For there to be 'equality', women would need to work more, pay more taxes, retire later

[–]werubim 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. My hunch is that income tax and government pensions allow women to work much less than men and still collect huge payouts from these schemes which are ultimately funded by men's extra hours worked, and higher earnings from specialized labor (which had a more stressful training period and many more stressful hours of work).

No they don't. The thing everyone forgets with the "tax the rich more" and "tax companies higher", is that the result of doing that just means those companies move elsewhere and this you lose all the tax revenue from them, while now also facing a lot more unemployed. It's entirely a balancing act and the instant the decision makers forget that, they lose it all.

[+]SterlingMNO -18 points-17 points-16 points 7 years ago* (22 children) | Copy Link

It’s basic economics.

Confirmed in literally no economics class I've ever taken.

What do you contribute to society in your job? It's a pretty simple question. If you're willing to sit there and say that, surely you're confident enough to answer?

Take me seriously? You just posted a comment with a blanket statement that women dont contribute to society as much as men, that's an extremely broad statement that you've backed up with literally nothing. Society is broader than GDP.

Where did you come from? I assume a man didn't push you out of his arse, or breastfeed you?

You can't talk about an entire gender in society and throw around terms like net loss and be taken seriously as anything but an arrogant fool.

Even if you wipe out your entire comment and go off of just 'Men live longer than women' - No one really knows why other than to speculate at statistics of things like alcohol and smoking use being higher among men, something entirely self inflicted. So if I smoke and drink I should get my retirement sooner? The difference is minimal anyway.

P.S. The only people taking you seriously are people who are looking for reasons to dislike women. I'd rather be seen as a joke to that crowd if I'm honest.

[–]rockynputz 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Men are the overwhelming majority of trade and construction jobs that literally maintain and build all of the basics and luxuries of our society that we take for granted. Women work less hours than men and in jobs that have much less risk. Because we don't get emotional like women when a risky job needs done. We get it done.

The only reason women survive is because there are men who are willing to put up with their shit to protect them from the realities of life (war, poverty, crime) and make their life easy and more comfortable. Yet here you have the gall to question it while getting obviously butthurt as others have stated.

[–]SterlingMNO -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because we don't get emotional like women when a risky job needs done. We get it done.

That's false. Completely. Trades and construction are majority male not because women are too emotional to be carpenters (like wtf?), but because historically even up until about 20-30 years ago, they were and are considered 'man jobs', by both men and women - they were part of traditional gender roles. Most women wouldn't have even had the choice to go into some trades 40 years ago even if they really wanted to. Something like that doesn't just disappear, the societal undercurrent doesn't just wash away and suddenly the world thinks of men AND women when you say 'builders'.

The only reason women survive is because there are men who are willing to put up with their shit to protect them from the realities of life (war, poverty, crime) and make their life easy and more comfortable.

Women survive because of basic biology but okay. And while I might agree with war to a point, the rest is absolute nonsense. I'm astonished you even remotely believe the garbage pouring from your fingers.

26% of the UK police force are women, rising year on year. In the UK 90% of nurses are women - On that alone if I was as pigheaded as you and use similar logic as you I could say "Men only survive because women are willing to take underpaid overworked careers in healthcare to look after them", even though it's clearly bollocks, it's the same kind of tidbit you'd cling to.

Look, I'm not going to change your mind, you're not going to change mine. You clearly want to see yourself as some sort of hunter-gatherer alphamale type that rides Wolves and hunts bears so that little ol' women at home in the tent have something to eat for dinner. The reality is more than likely that you're an underachiever trying to attach more importance to your life than there really is by thinking of yourself as the cornerstone of society because you've laid a few bricks in your time.

Hilarious.

Tame compared to some comments below.. One guy said that if it weren't for men putting up with women's shit they wouldn't survive, and some gold about how without men protecting them they'd be traded like commodities.

It's the same hypocrisy radical feminists have. It's not striving for equality it's just straight up 'I think I'm better than you and I justify it with my victim complex'.

If he turned around and said 'I mow the lawns for the local businesses', it'd be a bit rich for him to at the same time sit there and say he should be allowed to retire earlier than women because OTHER MEN contribute more than they do.

The holier than thou attitude is rife on this sub, but none of you are willing to look inward before you spew garbage.

Just like I wouldn't sit here and say that all men should get hazard pay because millions of them die in Wars every century.

The 'This woman acted like a cunt and then got treated like one regardless of her gender' posts are cool. Then you have these comments pop up where it's clearly little boys angry at women and providing odd little insights about how women 'ONLY SURVIVE BECAUSE MEN PUT UP WITH THEM' with absolutely zero facts to back it up - because no facts exist to back shit like that up.

Even after like 5 comments the OP refused to provide even a single reason of why what he said is true. Because he couldn't. So you deserve to be ridiculed. You're a joke.

i ain't reading that, but a reminder, sweatie; if it wasn't for male enforced civilization, females would be traded as a commodity.

Again, it's sweetie. It's hard for me to take your put downs seriously when you can't spell a 7 letter word.

HAHAHA, there's nothing I have to say to you. You're the first person I've come across on reddit that genuinely stinks of an incel.

ooh you did the passe meme that's wrong 99% of the time while being unable to refute a basic truth you will instinctively admit to no one but your shuddering subconscious. cool beans, babe

Unable to refute a basic truth

A basic truth shouldn't be hard to prove.

Yet here we are.. Still haven't proved it..

YIKESSSSSSSS (I'm just doing a cool meme thing)

The question is, will the differential in life expectancy change due to this and other factors? Before when men were the primary breadwinners and retiring later you could argue they perhaps worked harder (maybe not true in some cases but probably true in others), now there's no distinction will we see the average life expectancy equal out over time?

[–]asaasa19831 points 7 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Women STILL work less hours and more part-time jobs. Their work is oftentimes less demending physically, they work in less extreme environments (working in construction on a blazing hot house roof at 40Celsius under the sun vs a desk job with the AC on for example). Men are still the main labor in dangerous jobs (police officers, especially SWAT teams and other high risk assignments, firefighters, miners, high tension electric line work, petrol and lubricant jobs, underwater soldering, etc.).

[–]SterlingMNO 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

All of what you say is true but largely has far too small an impact to really show up in life expectancy stats. Some of them might even go against the result you're expecting. There are plenty of jobs that aren't in an "air conditioned office at a desk" that are healthier for that very reason.

If I'm in a job where I'm kept to a certain level of fitness by requirement or requires manual labour, I'm likely to be fitter and healthier than that of someone who spends 40 hours a week hunched over a desk.

The only real explanation for life expectancy differences I've seen aren't to do with career, but things like smoking/drinking and the difference between testosterone and estrogens effect on the body.

Just wow...

Your head is buried so far in the sand right?

Check workplace death and tell me with a straight face that it doesn't matter overall!

Also women abuse alcohol and tobacco just as much as men do. They just tend to lie more about it! Women think a glass of wine is healtier than a beer but in the end, it's the same damn thing and women tolerate alcohol less than men does (why do you think women are drunk way faster than men are?) yet they get shitfaced so often from wine drinking that it's just insane you could even imagine that alcohol abuse is anything but non-gendered!

Also the job who requires you to be fit might be nice at 20 years old but when you're 65 and worked there for 45 years doing the same tasks, tasking the same muscles in your body for all that time, you tend to disagree a WHOLE LOT with what you said about it being nice!

And on top of the workplace death, men are more likely to die around the house too. What is more dangerous: mowing the grass, sharpening the blades of your lawnmover, snow blowing, cleaning gutters, changing wheels/oil/brakes/etc on a jacked car or doing the laundry, the dishes, washing the babies, vacuuming? If you said the first set: congratulation, all things mostly done by males which lead to more deaths but also accidents which leave people feeling like shit for years (hence more suicide too!).

Even where men and women share housechores, men are doing the more dangerous version of it: cooking BBQ vs stove, doing fries in grease vs in oven, chopping the big pieces of meat (for example on hunted animals) vs veggies, etc.

But of course, let's pretend this doesn't exist and it's all biological and women aren't ''doing less''. Continue patting yourself on the back...

[–]SterlingMNO 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm on mobile so I can't reply to all of this separately.. But the fact you start with "tell me with a straight face..." and then jump to saying "they get so shit faced from wine drinking so often" is hilarious.

You really don't understand how statistics work. Deaths from mowing the lawn, sharpening the blades, or whatever obscure bullshit you pull out of a hat, account for zero statistical significance. Just because your local had a rabble of women that go large every Friday night isn't representative of the whole. The fact you even say that as if it's some fact you're throwing out there to sway me is beyond funny.

Data we have for life expectancy is also retrospective, you can only roughly predict it for current generations for a starkly obvious reason and the majority of studies on things like alcohol consumption between men and women now are focused on younger generations - which still show that women drink less than men. Yes, still. Despite what your anecdotal comments with zero coherence suggest. Historically, certainly in the past 2 generations, its just a FACT that men drink and smoke more than women.

Tldr learn more about statistics, learn more about debate, learn that saying "what do you mean men drink more than women? Women get shit faced all the time!" makes you look like a blithering idiot. You sir really are a mong.

[–]SterlingMNO 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Life expectancy won't even out until men and women are equal in their use of alcohol and smoking. Even then, there's some evidence to suggest testosterone is in part a cause. There'll likely always be some difference, already its pretty minimal.

[–]Miasmata -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

They did a study and apparently long life is due to the size of your body, not your gender, which would make sense as women on average are smaller.

[–]frjoethesecond -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No way it could be a lot of factors combining right?

You know, like builders dying on the job, firefighters inhaling smoke, dangerous gasses in sewers and general wear and tear on the body caused by physical work.

How about loss of sleep and bad eating and drinking habbits caused by working too many hours? Loss of concentration due to fatigue. Fatal accidents caused by working under the influence of alcohol due to poor work-life balance.

All of those things impact men far more heavily than women, but society doesn't give a fuck.

[–]Miasmata 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lol what are you talking about, I was just saying they did some study and found that when you take a group of healthy people with similar lifestyles and diets, the smallest would always live longer than the largest. No need to get your little knickers in a twist.

[–]frjoethesecond 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough. This thread is full of fact denial, so I thought you were doing that by omission.

[–]Miasmata -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]h4zardz1 points 7 years ago* [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

this doesn't even make sense in fact its actually unfair according to social justice standards to have men retire older then women since women on average live longer 7 or more years!. talk about life expectancy discrimination women.

[–]SleepDeprivedUserUK[S] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Remember, it's not discrimination if it's in the women's favour.

That's how "eqUAliTy" works with feminasties

[–]h4zardz1 points 7 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

reminds me of how womyn wanted equality in jobs, before all they needed to do was find a husband and mooch off him but today they need a fulltime job to support themselves. Now thats equality for ya! I support equality in working hours and paid time off!

[–]SleepDeprivedUserUK[S] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's no real equality in jobs unfortunately.

Women want high-paying jobs in medical/it/stem type fields (But have a degree in "gender studies" from uni....)

I've yet to see women fighting to become rubbish truck drivers, to become sewage workers, to become laborers at construction sites.

It's amazing (Lol not really tho) how many women want the nice jobs and scream equality, but don't bother with the lower ones either.

Wait my retirement age was different then mens? That's bullshit, if I'm equal, I want to be equal all around. Dont cater to me because im a "frail, weak woman".

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

nice

[–]AdrianWerner 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is actually not just right, but also good for women themselves. Earlier retirement age coupled with longer predicted lifespans mean far lower retirement pensions.

I was confused until I saw "uk" then it all made sense.

Of course their laws are backwards.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lot of people in this thread are saying that women should actually retire later, since they pay lower taxes, work less etc.

How about I, an IT guy get to retire 5 years before you do, cause I earn more, and therefore pay more taxes? The only equality is equality, compensating for groups only ruins it for outliers, like women, who work a lot more then you do.

This is exactly as hypocritical as the feminazis you bitch about

[–]umaywellsaythat 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is pretty much irrelevant for higher earners anyway because you won't qualify for a pension anyway due to means testing. I'm certainly not expecting to get it and don't really care what the official retirement age is.

[–]ATReade 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I dont give a fuck about some stupid old cunts who fucked the whole economy and country up, what about our generation (30s) who have to pay their debts for the rest of our lives and probably wont ever get a state pension and certainly cant Save privately because its so expensive just to live. The older generation should work till their dead to pay off a generation off easy living and constant fuck ups due to their greed.
