I personally don't have as big of an issue with menslib, I lurk there occasionally and they sometimes bring up good issues men face, they just analyse them all wrong. They try to incorporate feminist theory into their data and solutions, which is inherently going to be a problem because feminism fights for (or in my opinion, SHOULD fight for) women's rights. So when it comes to fighting for men's rights, feminism has no leg to stand on because it's not their area of experties.

When feminism analyses and tries to solve men's issues, it's only in the interest of helping women, not men. "How does helping men, help women", the primary problems to solve then goes back to women's issues. They're always the primary victims. I see it all the time as a gay man and listen to feminists in the LGBTQ spaces I've interacted with. When they talk about gay mens issues, it's always "gay men suffer because misogyny" and then all were doing is talking about womem and misogyny and not actually focusing on gay men at all, even though gay men was the primary topic.

We run into the exact same problems with men's issues in general, when people try to bring feminist theory into the discussion. That's why I do not trust feminists when they discuss men's issues.

I take less issue with the 'feminisation' of men and more issue with the fact that feminists try to make men hate themselves and make women think they are weak and helpless.

I remember lurking that sub and the most popular post was about the movie eyes wide shut and an analysis of the movie that says men are insecure and thus need to control women’s sexuality as exemplified by certain scenes and situations in the movie. My first thought was who cares, then I thought why is this even an important issue to discuss, and then I thought how can you extrapolate orgy scenes in a movie to generalize and analyze society and men as a whole? It’s like they took one strange movie as evidence to support some feminist theory and that that was the most pressing issue at the moment. So in short, I’m never even glancing at that sub again.

This here comment thread is still the best example of why its a bad sub, you can't talk about things openly there without some subjects being 'problematic. Look at all the removed comments by moderators.

The think over there is that they insist all bad things happening to men are only caused by other men, the "patriarchy" and neo-nazis(how the hell neo-nazis and the alt-right are specifically a male problem is alien to me). They love to use the term "toxic masculinity" and throw a lot of blame on that, when I think its a sexist term that doesn't need masculinity attached. Since what its defined as isn't limited to the male gender. Anyone can show those toxic beliefs about men, male or female. Its like the terms "manspreading" and "mansplaining".

Because to them women are still more oppressed than men(as per the rules of Feminism), and any talk about women oppressing men is silenced. If you even suggest that the "patriarchy" might not be pro-male but rather gynocentric? Removed. You think "toxic masculinity" is sexist language? Removed. They've deleted my comments before, without even notifying me. You can see here what happened to me and what my views were.

I'm a semi-regular there, as well as here. It's pretty interesting that you mentioned that sub today, as I just received a month-long ban for making a comment that critically analyzes something that's usually taken for granted. Not making a case against any core tenets (as I believe that the feminist approach, though flawed, is valid when applied equally), just questioning something.

The mods are a little more dogmatic than I'd like, but overall they tolerate differing views better than the overwhelming majority of subs that aren't free-speech-first. I would like to point out to everyone that there is a certain irony in the fact that we aren't allowed to actually use /r/ when talking about MensLib. Try it, and your post is auto-removed. I find that to be...objectionable at best, especially considering the sidebar of this sub:

Menslib is like an ER where no blood may be visible to anyone. Men's issues aren't pretty, aren't PC and they're even anti-feminist as they contradict feminist dogma by existing at all. Talking about them is always going to offend people and it will always fail to make women feel good about themselves.

And because of that, restricting such discussion to pro-feminist opinions is doomed to fail. At best they can only become a kind of pity party where men share their feminist-approved experiences of abuse and others pour their sympathy on them. Which is pretty much what such attempts always wind up being.

I am not a MGTOW, nor do I follow redpill philosophy, but one thing they absolutely have correct is that a man should look after himself, first and foremost. After that if you are generous enough to use what you have to help another, that is laudable, a noble act.

My father would say the natural order is for men to protect those weaker than them. But my father is old now and he doesn't understand that that's not how it works anymore. Modern strength in men is learning that you don't have to capitulate, you don't need the approval of women, you don't need "virtue" that someone else assigns to you.

A strong man doesn't rely on pathological co-dependence or ephemeral value from others; He makes his own value. Carves out his path by his own hand. Those guys seem like they so desperately want to be accepted, to belong..... they are cucks, they are nothing.
