I have no idea short of just having the courage to speak up about it. For example when someone talks about "white male privilege" they should be challenged on the idea. Is a white homeless man privileged? Is a gender studies professor more oppressed than a white man who works at a dangerous job for less pay?

Identitarians embrace "trickle down privilege". The left rightly condemned the idea that giving more wealth to the super-rich would "trickle down" to the average person. Turns out the super-rich prefer to squirrel away their money in foreign bank accounts or use it to lobby politicians to deregulate their industries.

Trickle down "privilege" works the same way. The fact that most billionaires and politicians are white males does NOT translate to privilege for the average white male born into poverty. This should be completely friggin obvious and used to be obvious among "classical" leftists.

Then the great capitalist foundations starting pumping millions into "gender" and "ethnic" studies and the rest is history. The CIA even got in on the action and funded Ms. Magazine.

Unfortunately elections are largely a farce at this point. The US long ago entered Banana Republic territory. They use voting machines that are banned in other countries because they are so easily hackable. Some mathematicians performed a statistical analysis of the Clinton vs. Bernie campaign and found huge anomalies. Like Clinton consistently out-performing exit-polls by 15 percent and more. Billion to one type odds.

Elites don't like Trump because he is a wild card and buffoon (though more intelligent than he lets on, imo). But they like him a helluva lot more than Bernie Sanders.

The Wikileaks emails showed that Trump was perceived as a "Pied Piper" candidate that Hillary could easily beat, so the media promoted him endlessly. They didn't imagine that Hillary was so disliked that he would actually beat her. Or perhaps he didn't, perhaps it was more dueling hackers swaying the vote.

Then go someplace unbiased like the US Census or Politifact and look up the fact that there are about twice as many poor white people in the US than poor black people. But those almost 20 million whites living in poverty don't know what poverty is like, riiiight. All because in Bernie's book they don't count because they're white. In other words, black lives matter and white lives don't matter, according to Bernie. Would you really want him as President?!

Then go watch the video of young white male Reginald Denny who was just minding his own business, getting dragged out of his vehicle and hit on the head with bricks by a bunch of black guys who had no motive other than the desire to hurt a total stranger for being white. But yeah, black people are the ones who know what it's like to have that happen to them, not whites. So says Bernie.

My point is that political parties are large coalitions with leaders that use certain language to appeal to their base. You're doing the same thing gawker and lefty news organizations do when they seize on something a GOP politicians said to his or her base and then conflate it to 'white nationalism!!' You're trying to catch a politician on a technicality. Which is easy to do when the entire point of a political speech is to speak in glittering generalities and appeal to emotions. Bernie isn't in a court room talking to a judge or writing book or article.

If a reporter approached Bernie on camera and asked him to clarify his position and he doubled down then you'd have a stronger case that not only does he spout rhetoric but also believes it (you could probably make the case that some politicians believe their own rhetoric but that another issue). The reality is that politicians are approached like this all the time and they almost always double-back and explain that stating it this other way would have been more accurate and I'm confident Bernie would probably restate himself. I highly doubt he believes 20 million impoverished whites don't understand poverty.

Why do you keep asking for a retraction? You know this is the internet right? True. Sanders would be a step towards equality in the sense of free college for everyone. Not just people cherry picked for scholarships, but every man or woman who wants college goes. This would also stop the whole "Pushing women toward STEM fields" and "telling men do whatever they want even if it's fucking welding for 20 dollars an hour". That's a serious issue, all the women at my school are told to enter high paying STEM jobs, the ones the good men at the top typically occupy. Then men come along "I want a decent job I can live off of, but I truly want to be a welder" the replies are "oh yeah do what makes you happy you'll love life more". When he's out of Highschool making like 15-20 dollars an hour I doubt he will be enjoying it.

Small business owners like me would have been taxed out of business. What I actually earn is barely enough to call me middle class... yet somehow his tax plans would have been so abusive I couldn't continue to operate a business.

I got a public school education, until I was asked to drop out. I'm a business owner. Capitalism is to thank for that.

You want an education? Go get one. The government has allowed schools to charge what they like, and they will provide you a loan to go to these schools. You can save your money and go to a community college, and not take the loan. Or you can take the loan and go to a bigger better school. You have options.

Sort of like how when I started my business I could have gone to a bank with a business plan and my qualifications and asked for a loan. Or, I could save my money, buy tools instead of bar tabs, and invest my own money up front. I could get a big loan and do it faster and bigger right out of the box, and have a loan to pay back. Or I could build it slowly, smaller, and pay out of my pocket to do so. I had options.

College is simply investing in yourself, banking that there is a good ROI on your chosen field of study.

If you want me to pay for your school, I'll take "go fuck yourself" to a new level. I hope you die before your government sponsored thievery of my money can provide anything for your entitled ass.

Bernie I believe was our best bet in the 2016 election. I believe free college would simulate the economy, and let people pick in life what they truly want to do, much like Germany's system of 3 high school groups filled with people who want to go directly to the workplace, free college, and people who want internships and things alike. Also free college may help small businesses, when entrepreneurs can get degrees in economics and other business related degrees from college.

It's great to take courses online, but it's a set back for people with slow internet and 1 college website can't do. Free college would support many people not just a select number.

Judging by your attitude you seem to think "because they didn't pay for they are lazy fuckers". But those lazy people will simply drop out, the true ambitious people will still succeed, and the lazy unethical people will fail.

Do you know what "pass through taxation" is for a business?

Essentially, I make any money my business doesn't spend in that tax year. If my business makes 150k one year but business expenses were 110k, I only made 40k.
So in this instance I would be ok as far as taxes go. But as a young business I expect my yearly investments to have an overall decline as I buy lots of the equipment and such in the first few years. Maybe I have a great 6th year where I hang on to 100k. Here is the problem: I can invest that money back into my business (as I am likely to do), and declare it a write off the following year. But not until after I've paid taxes on it as income. This is as basic as it gets and I hire someone to handle it all for me, my time is better spent elsewhere. But when you have to file quarterly, and you have payroll taxe, etc etc... the margins shrink rapidly. If the margins become too small, and the prices higher than the market will bear, then I get no customers and go out of business.

His tax plan would have seen taxes go up, if not directly in terms Of income tax, or business tax rates for businesses tiny enough to avoid higher rates, but all the other taxes around the edges. It would have been enough, I think, to make me consider going back to being someone's employee. And there are lots of folks like me, and if we all decided we didn't want to grow businesses and employ people, that will hurt the economy.

It's crazy, but low taxes and high competition is good for business, high taxes and low competition is bad for business.

i don't recall what the personal tax rate was but I recall seeing that my wife and I would pay more, and we aren't making 250k a year.

The "corporate tax rate" as it is often referred to is essentially a business tax rate. As I understand this, his plan was to o crease the bottom end of this tax for all businesses. This allowed him to say "corporate tax rate" and "multinational billion dollar businesses need to pay their fair share", while ignoring that his plan didn't exactly excuse small businesses from this same increase. Now I think closing loopholes for large mega corporations is fine, and they do need to pay their fair share. But you are crippling actual economic growth and job growth when you punish small business. About 90 of businesses in the USA have fewer than 20 employees. These small businesses are delicate, often operating on tiny super thin margins. As the gentlemen in the video I linked earlier mentioned, sometimes these business owners are taking lines of credit to pay employees, because of financial hardship, and then hope that over a few months they can get back in the black... running a business is tough, Bernie wanted to make it more difficult and remove much of the potential reward by skimming a lot off the top for Uncle Sam.

I'm not ok with my government taking tons of my money so they can be my daddy. Any government large enough to provide all you need is large enough to take all you have. I'll stick with appropriately regulated capitalism, with a side of get the corporate lobbyists the hell out of Washington. I also get pissed off when these senators with pensions, 401K and a six figure income, cannot find the time to read a bill, but somehow can earn ten times their salary in their "spare time"... now I'm all for people doing well for themselves and capitalizing on an opportunity. But we are paying them with six figure incomes from our hard earned money. The least they can do is read the whole fucking bill. Honestly, would you employ someone who openly told you they didn't read their emails and memos, but they were super happy to take some time off to go speak to a group of people for an hour, and get paid $75k for it.... hell no. In fact you probably would be flipping out they are sharing your IP, violating the non-compete and IP clause you had them sign. Perhaps we ought to make a law that says you may conduct no outside business while holding office, and for a time period of at least 36 months, with any companies or similar, who spent time lobbying you while you were in office. further, gifts of access/useage must be accounted for at a rate to approximate the retail cost to rent the object being gifted for use by the representative. In other words, if Exxon mobile gives you a car to drive around, the cost of leasing that car is added to your income level on your taxes.

Plus not being dragged along meekly by an elitist system meant to keep him in mediocrity for the rest of his life. School doesn't work for a lot of people. A lot of those people are boys/men. That doesn't mean they didn't work hard. It might even mean that they worked harder. They have more life experience. They actually understand the value of hard work. Unlike a good portion of university trust fund babies. Or whiny 25-year-olds who just graduated in art history and somehow try to place the blame on working people because they can't buy a ~~large screen television~~ ~~a house~~ - yeah sorry, I'm misspeaking there. No man. No. OP gets cred here for dropping out of a bullshit school system, learning his way through life experience, starting a business. Anyone can fake their way their school and into a corporate job. Not everyone can start a small business. And these people are the backbone. That's literally what America was built on. And I'm Canadian, and I'm telling you this. I've always admired the hardworking self-starting nature of Americans. Props to OP.

Bernie I believe was our best bet in the 2016 election. And, you must realize, student loans fuck people over, I don't believe It's the fact we pay for college, but the fact you can take out an expensive ass loan for a 4 year degree and be paying it back for years.

SO DON'T GO TO COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY!

My goodness it's silly. If it's "that expensive" and student loans are so "bad" - then don't go to college/university.

Work hard. Start your own business. Make connections. Live small. Learn on your own. Heck, school has become such a joke that you might be able to actually learn better outside of school than in.

If everyone went to college, then a degree wouldn't be worth anything anymore.

20 years down the road, everyone has a degree and it's not worth shit. Meanwhile, what about all of the garbage collectors, brick layers, ditch diggers of the world? They just get screwed? Sure, it would be great if we could "all do what we want". But the simple truth is that we can't all be the GM of the New York Yankees.

Also free college may help small businesses, when entrepreneurs can get degrees in economics and other business related degrees from college.

Getting a business degree does not make you more capable of opening a business.

Judging by your attitude you seem to think "because they didn't pay for they are lazy fuckers". But those lazy people will simply drop out, the true ambitious people will still succeed, and the lazy unethical people will fail.

You need to immediately stop doing everything you are doing and read Atlas Shrugged. I'm guessing you are in your mid 20s or something like that? Still feeling optimistic. Ready and excited for the world. I was once like that too. Life experience changed that.
