But, but, but! She's a female, the moral high ground, the nurturer, the gentler part of our species. I mean there's gotta be a good reason for what she did right? Maybe it was PMS, you know how that can ruin a girls day.
Clearly this means we have a stab-culture on our hands and we need to spend money on university campaigns to straight-faced remind women to not stab their boyfriends.
I know I will be down voted. But I commend the Judge - This how law is applied outside US.
A moment of screw up in your life should not define the person. It's the same mentality of ruining kids life using zero tolerance crap in US schools and judicial system. In US You were taught wrong on how to apply rules and Law, people makes mistake look at the situation holistically and judge what's best for the parties and society.
I know kids who got drunk and did childish things in my country, but the dean said if not the kids who will do them and let them go with warning and counseling to parents - all of the kids graduated and in decent and prestigious professions. What would be the outcome if the dean expelled them like in US with a criminal record ?
Please don't judge others, if you look long and hard enough you will find something YOU did that's against law deserving Jail time (That applies to pretty much everyone - doing jaywalking, beating red light etc...)
I agree with your one sentence in you last paragraph, that "special consideration based her gender, wealth, and education, and that's deplorable."
I would rather point out and rally around cases where the punishment is unproportional, biased and unjust; than imposing harsher punishment for a specific case to make examples.

In other words we agree in principle.
