Hi guys, this is madman644 - a mod here at PPD and one of the people at the center of this whole controversy. I'm using an alt because my main account has justifiably been suspended for 7 days.

Thank you to /u/sodypop and the admin team for their patience in this matter, we gave you guys a lot of extra unnecessary work and yet you still respected our right to privacy of the mod communications. However I think it's only fair to clear up the situation so that the admins don't receive any further flack.

Sorry to all involved, don't think we really gave enough thought to the repercussions of our actions. We did just think this would be a bit of a laugh and although we did anticipate that it would become big drama, I don't think any of us fully appreciated the negative effect that would have on the admins, the perception of reddit leadership and the perception of the pussypassdenied sub.

As I said to the hundreds of you who pledged support and sent well wishes - I truly believe in this sub's message of real equality. Whilst I also love the humorous nature of the way this message is delivered this prank went way above that. I guess given the tense landscape of left vs right and the real doxing that happens every day, we did not engage our brains about the damage our joke would have. It was in very poor taste and we're sorry.

Hopefully you can all drop your pitch forks, in this instance at least the admins have been nothing but fair, helpful and reasonable and deserve no backlash for the actions of three mods.

We'll be back in a week once our suspensions finish. Try not to trash the place whilst we're gone!
