Why do shitposts always reach /all/ ? We should stop this

I think it's funny those posts are used by concern trolls to paint the sub negatively. Those votes are coming from somewhere, but not all of them are from here. Can't think of one of them that I've touched with a vote.

Sure there's going to be disparity between easy to consume content, and articles and such... but it's never been this large of a difference in votes before. The average activity for this sub has never been that high since I started coming here. Not anywhere near close.

I wish the mods would do something about it. Not sure what that something is though.

I noticed the same thing. I have a feeling that those posts are catching upvote brigades in order to make us look like a bunch of clowns bitching about trivial shit.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't put it past the femtards to do such a thing. They've certainly stooped to pettier shit.

If you don't thinks it's valuable downvote it like I do for the posts that people make to counter the women are wonderful effect. There's just too damn many of them sometimes.

Or confront the offending redditor and take it up with them.

I've had a few people delete their posts following a discussion.

Defeating feminism is the first step to gaining equal rights. Those first two posts are about pointing out the hypocrisy and ridiculousness of feminism. When feminism loses the credibility that they have (for some reason), step 1 is done.

I find these posts annoying too. Posts like that "hubby/wifey" thing - yes, it's a double standard and it's fine to bring attention to it, but it's such a trivial thing to get the disproportionate amount of upvotes that it did.

I think the problem is that these low effort images of some dumb thing are much quicker and easier for people to look at and respond to, compared with articles, videos, anything that is thought-provoking or nuanced. I don't think there's any upvote conspiracy - it's just that the people who want discussion of issues are outnumbered by people who just want to see some dumb thing feminists did so that they can reinforce that they've picked the right side. Of course, the latter group doesn't participate here in comments as much, so we don't see these people until those posts come up.

Unfortunately I don't know that there's much we could do about it without giving up lax moderation that allows people to speak their minds and have discussions here, which is important. I guess if the mods wanted to, the sub could opt out of all, but that means shutting off visibility, both good and bad, and it won't get rid of the negative opinions of Men's Rights that people already have.

Well, technically rule #1 in the sidebar covers these posts (I would think) as it references "low-effort image or text posts." The only thing to do is to report them for violating the Mod Policy.

Otherwise, it's a mixed bag. Yeah it's annoying, and yeah the complainers and whiners have an opportunity to complain and whine. But, the visibility of the post can lead people to look at the rest of the posts on the sub and it's an opportunity to clarify misunderstandings from the uninformed in the comments.

I'm not sure what other posts get to the front page, frankly.

I agree. When people come to MensRights they see a bunch of raving loonies and go away again. I have had a lot of trouble getting people to take the MRM seriously. Dakru's reference book in the sidebar is useful for that.

I really think we should have a vote to decide whether to keep these shitty facebook/social media posts or not. Some may be relevant (these can be left up of course) but almost all are not. I also think that the mods should remove them because I think that we're being brigaded in some way because those posts just have way too many upvotes for this sub. Removing these posts imo will be helpful for everyone in this sub.

I've been around this community for a little over three years now and I've noticed the most persuasive thing is calm, rational debunking of crazy ideological crap. You'll never convince people receptive to a message of hate, but if you stand in calm and reasonable contrast to someone screaming and ranting about social justice you have a chance of having others to consider your point of view. It never seems like it makes a big splash on the spot but it just silently builds a kind of social inertia.

Although SJW and leftists have rabidly taken over mod positions on subs, the overall culture of reddit itself gives SJW stuff much less of a free pass than a couple years ago.
