Depending on your job an employer has the option of placing a women on light duty if they feel she or the baby could be at risk of injury. If she provides a doctors note stating for medical reasons she has to be on light duty then they have too. However some employers will automatically put a women on desk duty when she becomes pregnant for legal reasons. They do not want to be liable if she/the baby are injured while performing the duties of her job

I think she's in the right here. 7 and a half months into her pregnancy she asks for light duty. Like, she waited about as long as she could before asking.

At my office we give women three months maternity leave with full pay. I've heard of longer terms elsewhere, and obviously in cases like this, shorter terms.

All in all, yeah, she deserves some paid time off.

I personally think it's awful that she didn't get maternity leave. In Germany where I'm from, a woman can get paid maternity leave up to 12 months (after pregnancy) and will continue to receive child benefits and dismissal protection until the child reaches three years old.

I'm probably going to get downvoted and called a euro socialist scum, but you Americans should really demonstrate and fight for decent healthcare, schooling and workers rights. I think it's atrocious how much you have to pay for healthcare and university.

Listen ladies, it's nobody's responsibility to pamper you just because you got pregnant. This lady may have gotten paid for free with the first baby, but I'm sure the county got sick of her shit on the second one because you know that as a police officer that's pregnant, you basically aren't going to have to do anything, and she knows that, and was probably hoping to get an easy paycheck again.

Also I have been around tons of drugs addicts in my day and can tell you that this lady is an addict, and sadly that's probably why the child won't survive. Look how skinny her face is while she is at least a few months pregnant.
