According to the most recent census in 2010, the U.S. population is 50.8% female and 49.2% male - http://www.census.gov/prod/cen2010/briefs/c2010br-03.pdf . Therefore, women have a majority in the United States; females are not a minority.

If women were particularly concerned about having a female Presidential candidate to represent and express their interests, they could have voted for one, as females have been permitted to vote in the U.S. since 1920. The same goes for other politicians such as Senators, Representatives, state legislators, mayors, governors, city/town council, county officials, etc. There are female politicians in the U.S., but they are not as numerous as males. If women really wanted more female politicians, they could choose to run and vote for more female politicians.

As for the patriarchy nonsense, what is stopping women from founding their own companies? Google was founded in 1998 and other tech companies were established around the same time. There is nothing stopping women from starting their own tech companies except for women themselves.

In my country, feminists are bitter about our first female Prime Minister (who famously called feminism "poison") because she "didn't do much to further the lot of women" (paraphrase). Which says it all, really - to these people, she was A Woman and should act accordingly, constantly thinking with a gender identity to serve as a token. She wasn't A Woman, she was her own person who, whatever you think about her policies (greatly controversial in many respects) was too busy being the Prime Minister to bother reducing herself to her genitals.

Why did i even bother to read this? As soon as i saw the thread title i knew it was going to be one of those idiotic types.

It makes me laugh when people accuse organisations/businesses etc of sexism because a man got the job/position over a woman. And when i mention that maybe, just maybe, they might have gotten it because they were more friendly, they had better knowledge of the role or they just did a better interview they look at me like I am crazy.

As far as i am concerned i don't care if all the bosses in the world are men, or all the bosses in the world are female. As long as they treat everyone correctly, dont cause any fuck-ups and get the job done well it doesnt matter to me. That i think is the most important thing. Can they do the job? If they can, great. If not, sorry best of luck next time.

Now I am not American, so i don't really follow the nomination debates (or whatever they are called) and i tend to ignore politics as much as possible, so i freely admit that i haven't got much of a clue regarding the platforms that the candidates are using. But from what i have read it seems that Hilary Clinton is basing her whole campaign on the fact that she is a woman, when to be quite frank in my opinion that is fairly irrelevant to the whole process.

I want to vote for Jill Stein, but when I tell people I have voted for her in the past, I'm told I'm wasting my vote or splitting the left vote. I just wanna vote for a GOOD candidate who is a woman. I don't agree with the way Clinton does business. Same thing when I voted the one time for Obama. I didn't vote for Alan Keyes, even though he was a black candidate for the Republican party years ago BECAUSE he was black. He was a terrible candidate whose policies I didn't agree with. I voted for Obama because he was a good candidate who was black.
