A woman in peak physical fitness will never be able to out compete a man in peak physical fitness.

It's simple biology, yet feminists/SJWs will claim that biology is sexist.

Another great example is when Venus and Serena Williams claimed that they could beat any pro male tennis player outside the Top 200 in the world back in 1998. A guy named Karsten Braasch (ranked 203rd at the time) beat both of them after playing a round of golf and having two beers.

[–]probpoopin 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even so. Is that really something to be proud of? Beating someone who isn't even top 200 that is.

[–]galtthedestroyer 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's fantastic.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't forget smoking a cigarette in between sets.

[–]AFascistCorgi[S] 25 points26 points27 points 10 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

Yet another reminder that female athletes deserve to be paid just as much as male athletes. Anyone who disagrees is a subhuman misogynist.

[–]iainmf 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure if the 14-year olds team get paid anything.

[–]v573v 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nor should they since they can't attract people willing to pay them to watch them play.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think we should be lobbying for that under 16 boys team to get more money, and using the same logic of feminists, it should come from that 5-th best women's team in the world.

[–]SalubriousSally 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dude, what does this have to do with anything? The question is whether they are accurately compensated for the value they create.

What is this?

[–]ATMinotaur -4 points-3 points-2 points 10 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Well normally males and females don't normally compete against each other, and until they do, the pay side is a non issue. For me the issue is stuff like in tennis where the the women play less sets than men and get the same prize winnings. But on the wage side as long as their playing the same length of time, same distance, using the same rules ect, they should be paid the same. The other possible issue is bringing people in to watch the sport, as supposedly male sports are more interesting to watch, and bring more people in, whether that is true or not, I don't know, I'm not a big sports fan.

[–]elwahrio 16 points17 points18 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The pay should be based on the relative revenue each event brings in for the organiser. Just like it is for musicians and comedians.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cherry picking one year.

Fun fact:

The latest Women's World Cup total payout was $15 million, the champ getting $2 million, or 13.3% of total payouts.

The Men's World Cup total payout was $576 million, the champ getting 35 million, or 6.1% of total payouts.

The women's champ gets more than twice the slice of their respective pie than the men's champ does, and overall the men bring in more revenue.

Men's games have higher ticket prices and larger attendance. Men overall bring in more money.

Your account is less than 5 hours at the time of my posting.

[–]Il128 -5 points-4 points-3 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You think your average professional comedian or musician gets paid based on door money?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Your average comedian or musicians pay will be strongly linked to how many people like and choose to consume their material, yes.

[+]Il128 -10 points-9 points-8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They get a pre agreed on fee for their work.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Any pre-agreed fee for their work would be based on how much revenue the guy paying them the fee will think they bring in. Which, again, is based on how many people like and choose to consume their material.

Also, look up royalties - that's a very direct link between pay and demand (and something all musicians and comedians understand).

No one is going sit back and throw more cash at someone than they think they'll make off them. I'm sorry but professional sport isn't a charity, it's a competitive business. As are the music and comedy industries.

[–]TabletThrowaway1 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes they do, I listen to comedians talk about their business on their podcasts they get paid based on how many tickets they sell.

[–]Endless_Summer 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The women suck at soccer compared to the men, as a fact. You don't get paid as much money as the best when you suck at your job. It's called life.

Thats fair enough, I've heard it in relation to tennis, and see it extending to popular sports, and see the point, not sure it applies to all sports though. Not heard Hope Solo's argument, and will take your word on it, and sounds retarded, I'm no fan of her anyway.

What is this?

[–]irrelevant_usernam3 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's entirely about money. That's how economics works. The more you bring in, the more they can afford to pay you. And people want to see the best athletes in the world play it's more exciting and impressive. People pay for that. But if they wanted to watch people play at a 14 year old level, that's much easier and cheaper to do.

Your local bar isn't going to pay the live musician the same as a rock star makes for a show. He might work harder, play better, and be a nicer guy. But he just doesn't bring in as much money.

[–]ATMinotaur 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thats fair enough which is why I thought its more likely than which sex is more skilled than the other, as neither sex competes against each other in a competitve way in sport far as I know, though the nearest is mixed doubles in tennis.

I lost my sides when they started saying "its not like hes a monster, its not like he's 5'8 and about the same size [as the girls]".

So if he was a guy the same size he'd be a monster. They are so delusional re: reality.

[–]mwobuddy 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Start all transwoman soccer team to compete in women's sporTS> SJWs should be okay wityh this.

Train them after they verify legally as women.

Kick women's asses repeatedly and be top team in women league.

"Hey guys, men and women are strictly equal and gender is a myth!".

Feel free to check this out. Any of the 48 contingent United States High School champions in any team or individual sport can crush the current woman professional(s) in that sport.

[–]thrway_1000 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The match was a warm-up ahead of the Matildas' friendlies against New Zealand's national women's soccer team, the Football Ferns.

It is understood the match was more of a training exercise for the Matildas, who played with a rotating squad. Training matches are often used by the Matildas while they are in training camps, to experiment in match situations. [Link]

Not sure it means anything as they were rotating and testing things. But, I do find it odd that it was an under 15 team? Really, not even a high school team for the number 5 team in the world?

[–]franklindeer 17 points18 points19 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fact that they were running plays experimentally means little, women's teams typically play much younger boys teams for practice and lose frequently enough, this isn't an aberration. The Canadian women's hockey team, easily the best in the world, also plays boys teams around the same age, and also loses with some regularity. The gap between men and women athletically is way, way bigger than most people are aware.

[–]Endless_Summer 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The US National women's team consistently gets beat by under 16 boys high school teams. Like, it's not even close.

It's absolutely laughable that they want to get paid as much as the men's national team... I guess we should pay these 16 year old boys more than the women then, too!

[–]mikesteane 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not sure it means anything as they were rotating and testing things.

Funnily enough, that reasoning wasn't applied when the Australian men's team beat England 3-1 in a friendly.

[–]actingverystrangely 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder if the referee and linesmen linespersons were male? Could this be more evidence of a gasp secret global conspiracy?

We should be told.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I love it! As i recall, these women are amongst the many who have whined that they don't get paid as much as the men. You know why you don't get paid as much as the men? Because you don't deserve to be paid even as much as the boys, that's why!

Sports is a form of entertainment, so strength isn't everything. If Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus had a 12 round boxing match, many people won't watch them just because of how strong they are. But rather, they wanna see Miley come in like a wrecking ball (almost guaranteed that it would be her entry song).

That being said, what makes me scratch my head is how women demand equal pay for jobs where strength is the primary factor. Such as security guards, warehouse workers, and construction.

[–]forgottensoul 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you're using strength in soccer and you're not a goalie, you're probably doing it wrong; soccer is about speed and endurance, as well as agility.

[–]SalubriousSally -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So the value they actually create means literally nothing?

[–]ThePigmanAgain 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Value? What value? Watching a bunch of third raters simply because they are women?

[–]SalubriousSally -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I mean the amount of money their work creates. Twist it however you like, if female football players generate more money than male, they should be payed more.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Really? Female soccer players generate more money than males? Say, you aren't comparing a year when the women have a huge tournament and the men don't, are you? Pretty sure that's the only way you could see the women making more money.

[–]SalubriousSally -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Jesus, this thread is full of people harping on about this article actually meaning anything regarding their pay. This is just self congratulatory circle-jerking; it has nothing to do with skill, and everything to do with whether or not they generate more revenue. The fact that this point is so contentious is sort of astounding.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or you have a problem with knowing how to comparing like for like.

This kind of statistical artifact is no different than the gender pay gap ignoring relevant factors in the comparison.

[–]jeff_the_nurse 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists be like, "Hey, an all-boys team! TITLE IX!"

[–]scanspeak 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And they wonder why nobody has an interest in watching most women's sports.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

this is fucking hilarious. lmaoooo

[–]Consilio_et_Animis -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago* (23 children) | Copy Link

And nowhere, nowhere in that article do they discuss the reason why: The women lost because of the overwhelming physical strength (in most respects) superiority of men over women.

EDIT: Removed incorrect reference to "genetic physical superiority".

[–]mikesteane 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link

Is it just physical? Why then can women not compete with men at darts and chess. The only competitive arena where women can compete with men I can think of is poker, which is, most notably, a game of deception.

[–]Tmomp 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Equestrian. I don't know the sport, but I believe males and females compete equally, both humans and horses.

[–]mwobuddy 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Horses are far less dimorphic than humans.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are probably other examples as well, but you have to search to find them.

[–]Demonspawn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Is it just physical?

The "biggest" gender gap is in standard deviations. In any measurable trait, males have larger standard deviations than females.

Because of this, when you are looking for the best of the best, you will find more men than women in that group. As one example: IQ. The average IQ for both genders is around 100. But when you look at IQs of 120+ you will find 2 men for every 1 woman. As you head further to the best of the best to IQs of 170+, you will find 30 men for every 1 woman.

Of course, the exact same thing happens on the other end of the scale. But we don't compete to find the worst ;)

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They have to "normalise" (i.e. fiddle) the I.Q. tests to find that the average is the same.

[–]Demonspawn 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True. But IIRC, in tests from before the fiddling the male average was 3-5 points above the female average. It's a 1/3rd gender neutral SD advantage which is significant but not overpowering.

[–]galtthedestroyer 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The standard deviations for IQ and spatial acuity are different. Unlike IQ, men as a whole are better at spatial acuity than women.

[–]Demonspawn -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The standard deviations for IQ and spatial acuity are different.

They're measured differently so of course they would be.

Unlike IQ, men as a whole are better at spatial acuity than women.

I think how you phrased it is slightly incorrect. I think it would be correct to say that the average man is (significantly) better at spatial acuity than the average woman. Unless there is no overlap in the bell curves of ability, you can't say that all men are better than all women.

There are trend differences between men and women (IQ, Height, etc.) and there are also absolute differences (reproduction, bone structure). It's important to not confuse the two.

[–]galtthedestroyer 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The standard deviations [between males and females] for IQ and spatial acuity are different. Of course IQ and spatial acuity are measured differently so think about it before speaking and realize that the statement was in the context of your statement about men having larger standard deviations for any measurable trait.

I didn't phrase anything slightly incorrectLY. as a whole == men on average == average man

I didn't confuse anything. It's important to have reading comprehension.

[–]WaitingToBeBanned 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

That sentence does not even make sense. Men are physically superior in most respects, but definitely not genetically superior.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

So, the much larger muscle mass, vO2, energy efficiency and thus output and stamina are not genetically driven? How does puberty, and the massive changes from the endocrine system it entails, arise? The fact X child is swamped with testosterone, and Y child is swamped with progesterone and estrogen is driven by genetics, yes?

[–]WaitingToBeBanned -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago* (8 children) | Copy Link

Those are physical characteristics. Less genetic redundancy is a genetic characteristic, and definitely not a good one.

[–]probpoopin 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Biologist here. You're an idiot.

[–]WaitingToBeBanned -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

You are an internet nobody.

[–]probpoopin 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

So do you want to talk about genetic expression, chromosomes, centromeres, telomeres and all that fun stuff? Or, are you gonna throw baseless insults around? We can have a talk if you want.

[–]WaitingToBeBanned 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Not particularly. But I would be interested in seeing you attempt to defend your position.

[–]probpoopin 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Being stronger via sexual dimorphism is a genetically expressed trait. The only thing you could possibly point at is men having an XY chromosome and being more probe to genetic diseases because women basically have a back up. That doesn't mean that all of the other stuff aren't genetic factors. That's all.

[–]WaitingToBeBanned 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nobody disagreed with or contracted any of what you just said.

[–]Consilio_et_Animis 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. You are correct. I will amend it. Thanks.

[–]galtthedestroyer 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It said genetic physical superiority. Genetics gives men the necessary organs to flood the body with testosterone rather than estrogen. That's how it works.

[–]omegaphallic 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

face palm

Rubbing this defeat in women's noses is a bad fucking idea.

And then topping it off by all this talk about how much better men are at all kinds of stuff then women just looks bad optics wise.

So if your all done patting each other on the backs and giving the feminists all the material they need to connvince a nuetral third party that we're all women hating and think women are inferior, perhaps we can focus on issues that are hurting men, instead of this circle jerk.

And I don't care if there is truth to it or not, this thread is a bad idea. The goal is to help men and there rights, not make women feel like shit.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Acknowledging men's superiority is not the same as hating women. We are bombarded by material derogating men constantly; everything from adverts in which the man is always a complete jerk while the woman gets everything sorted to DV campaigns in which men are always the perpetrators and women the innocent victims. A dose of reality is no bad thing.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I get that, I just think one can pick ones battles better, but I do understand the barrage of insults men get for being men.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This sub a couple of years ago was lots of confused blokes coming in desperate for answers after having a bitch of an ex wife use the kids as pawns against them for spite/money.

These days it's just anti-fem hate. It's much bigger these days so just the way it works.

Swap male and female labels in a typical post here and see how it looks to the reader.

Same thing goes for anti white hate or anti religion. I like to call it empathy.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do see some of that, but if we can't laugh at this in the aftermath of all of the jibber-jabber about equal pay with non-equal gate receipts, sponsorship, TV deals or even ability then something is wrong with the universe.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think its just a minority of users, not all.

[–]ILookAfterThePigs -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What are you talking about? This is clearly a relevant issue men face in todays society and totally fits in a forum about men's rights.

[–]TabletThrowaway1 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When I read the title and saw that they were "crushed" I thought the score would be like... 2-1 ... cause soccer obvi.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

A (strange?) fact is that men are better at almost everything, even in "female hobbies" where men are in minority.

But why do women play against boys? To learn, of course. 15 year old boys have something that adult women don't, something to teach.

Spirit?

They play against adolescent boys as they are about as physically capable, meaning fast.

They play against boys because they boys are better, but only by a little bit.

If you want to improve, your best competition is someone slightly better than you. Worse than you will make you complacent. Equal to you won't improve you. Slightly better than you will make you play harder and show you that you can perform better than you have. Much better than you won't motivate you to do better as it wouldn't matter anyways.

7-0 hardly represents a slight difference.. It is a total thrashing.

Nope. They could play against women but they don't because there is something to learn playing against boys. Didn't I just explain it?
