This woman is an imbecile. Her piece, regardless of her actual thoughts, or lack thereof, is written at the level of a 10th grade internet forum rant and is about as valuable. The only reason it was published is because the publisher is Huffington Post, where all a woman needs to do to get published is claim to be a feminist (check), use the word "misogyny" at least once (check), and then everything else can be comprised of the woman making fart noises with her armpit (check).

I particularly like her statement that misandry is "not a real thing". Perhaps she needs to go hang out with Mary Daly, Boston University Professor, and hear all about how the population of men should be "reduced" to 10% of the human race and "species responsibility should be returned to women". They would certainly be safe from triggers having this discussion because Daly won't allow male students in her classroom.

Perhaps she needs to hang around with Twitter Asshole Samantha Lee Stewart, who is publicly tweeting that all men accused of rape should be castrated without question, and other even more odious statements.

I wonder how Huffington Post would react to an author somewhere claiming that misogyny is "not a real thing".

And then one of her big complaints against us ... how precious: there is a public awareness campaign discouraging women from making false rape allegations. How hideous, really.

Look: when you read the internet equivalent of crude pub restroom wall graffiti (Huffington Post Women, in a nutshell) you need to have really just no expectations at all.

If this latest scrawling of the word "fuck" across the Huffpost toilet seat has you pissed, or offended, you can take comfort in the certain knowledge that the only reason it was published is because it was written by a woman, anyway. It's probably the best the dubious "author" could manage. And she's not doing marvels for raising expectations of women.

And what does it really mean, this vacuous rant, yet another, about Mens' Rights, from a deranged feminist harridan?

It means they're frightened by us. They're terrified of empowered men. They're terrified of losing control of the gender wars. They're terrified by people who won't just nod and smile and repeat back to them what they say for fear of being publicly smeared, or shamed, otherwise.

So in other words, you've now figured out that there is absolutely no sane reason to actually attempt to engage with feminists, right? You'll have a more rewarding experience and a more meaningful response from talking to a potted plant. They are a dumb, angry, self-righteous mob with a colossal sense of entitlement.

And incidentally, yes, this particular author is an imbecile with what seems to be maybe 8th grade literacy, being allowed by a vacuous web site to rant and blather at will, simply because a) she claims to be a feminist, and b) she used the word "misogyny" at least once. That appears to be the editorial standard at "Huffington Post Women".

Good for you. It's important to stand up to these hateful people. You won't change their minds but you may sway people on the fence.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's impossible to change the mind of the die-hard feminists.

Don't waste your effort.

The best we can do is starve the beast of new recruits. Convince anybody and everybody that is 'on the fence' that Feminism is not the way to go. As long as they have enough intellectual capacity to process simple logic and even a small amount of common sense left, they will see that Feminism is not the answer.

Given time, the hard-core feminists will eventually die off ... if only we can prevent them from recruiting a new crop of fools to replace them.

[–]pnw_diver 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

In grad school, when confronted with feminist female STEM students, I simply missed this entire part of it, being oblivious of harpy feminism at that age, and I otherwise found them physically unattractive and personally boring, and proceeded to ignore them completely. Who cares about her socio-political worldview if she resembles a walrus and is as fun to be with as a wet Siamese cat.

Countering the now-institutionalized feminist man-hatred will require generational changes. I am beginning to think that, if any of us actually intends to seriously make an impact, we need to do daring things like switch our careers and go into K-12 teaching or group therapy.

[–]Fokillew 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Harpy feminism." Great. If that isn't already part of the lexicon, it should be.

[–]Sasha_ 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't have any friends who'd read the 'Huffington Post', or sites like Jezebel, and if you do I'd advise you to simply dump them. We're all judged by the company we keep, and people will think less of you if you hang around with feminists and other idiots.

[–]TheWheatOne 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As someone who's gotten the same type of experience, without even taking sides, I can confirm this is how it goes.

[–]CzechoslovakianJesus 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Her feminist friends attacked me hard with ad hominems about how they refused to read it because I was both male and white.

They know it proves them wrong, so instead they'll refuse to read it and claim it's wrong and be both racist and sexist at the same time.

[–]JayBopara 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cool, post it up with the names redacted. Better yet, post it up on your facebook and shame that misandric feminist bully!

[+]treatworka -13 points-12 points-11 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's poorly written but she's more or less correct. I wonder if you even read it, since your only gripe with it recorded here is your mistaken idea that she is claiming MRM has no legitimate reason to exist. From the article:

There are certainly issues that disproportionately affect men -- the suicide rate among men is higher, as is the rate of homelessness. Men are more likely to be injured or killed on the job or because of violence. Men who are the victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault are less likely to report these things.

Ironically, you go on to denigrate feminists instead of actually doing something productive to address issues that affect men disproportionately. Thereby you (and the others on this sub) confirm her critique that so-called MRAs would rather internet-bash feminists than get off their arses and address the problems you're blaming on them.

[–]StrangeCategory 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Perhaps she needs to go hang out with Mary Daly

Somewhat difficult, as Daly has been dead for 5 years.

[–]izomo 36 points37 points38 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

it's it ironic that feminists keep saying that men aren't systemically oppressed while systemically telling them to shut up?

She argues that mra has a baseless hostility towards feminism while at the same time being a feminist writer who uses her voice to be hostile to mra.

Patriarchy theory is such nonsense. This article is a good example as to why.

Problems the world face are deeper than "patriarchy!" If you have such a one track mind, then you are going to miss the real solutions that can be made to help.

If your problem is that there's water spots all over your floor and you think it's your dog peeing. When in actuality your pipes are leaking, locking the dog outside isn't going to be the solution to your problem. The problem is still there, but you keep insisting it's your dog peeing. You refuse to accept any other possibility. It's stupid.

You can send your dog to classes, punish him, get rid of him, but the problem will persist regardless of your efforts. Because you're addressing the wrong thing completely. You can't solve a problem when you are fighting the wrong cause.

They think every problem, no matter how nuanced, is the fault of the same thing. Patriarchy. What's the solution then? "End patriarchy!" Every problem is the cause of patriarchy, so if there are any problems at all it'll prove patriarchy is still there. It's perpetual. It's good for feminism that people buy this "patriarchy" scapegoat, but it's bad for real equality and real progress.

We can't get to real solutions to very real problems when all other possible causes to our problems in society are discounted and they force the "patriarchy!" line on everyone. They refuse to consider [or admit] there could be any other reason for the problems in society.

It's fun that she ignored issues MRM address that can't possibly be misconstrued as a class or racial issue. For example, genital mutilation.

There's no other reason than sex that it continue to be allowed. Since none of the arguments for MGM would allow lesser or comparable forms of FGM to be legalized. Despite the fact the same justifications are used for FGM in the countries where it's normalized. There is no other reason that we continue to allow it in society other than not caring about boys' right to bodily integrity.

Conscription is another one. There's no other reason that it's still there (or still gendered) other than the fact it only affects men. But, hey, "patriarchy hurts men too!" And since feminism is going to "end the patriarchy" all by itself in ways that they never seen to speak about, we don't have to worry. I'm sure it's just a few days away from being dismantled.

[–]CountVonVague 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I swear, if Feminists down jump on circumcision as evidence of "Patriarchy hurting men too" i'll be right disappointed. That would of course be only once something like MGM even Dares to enter the mainstream, ...damn, just think of how much the culture Defending MGM is going to fight to keep it?

[–]augustfell 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The more popular the opinion, the less intellectually rigorous it has to be. And hating on MRA is pretty damn popular.

Most of modern feminism is built on the assumption of The Patriarchy oppressing women. Feminists risk being victims of their own success by ever admitting to being a dominant political force. That's why they fight so hard to maintain the underdog facade. I wonder what their contingency plan is for when people catch on...

[–]tygertiger 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Puffpo. What else do you expect?

[–]jimmybrite 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wow, she even has a patreon worth 500$+ a month. sickening.

She's also published in Washington Post, Vice, The Daily Dot and The Toast, no surprise here.

I want free money for writing hate speech too!

[–]CountVonVague 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

lawl this is Such obvious Bait, the author's ONLY TWO source links take you to WeHuntedTheMammoth. Read those two articles to get a better idea of how bonkers and out of touch this Ms.Theriault is. in fact... LOL!! This article is over a year old, march '14, pfff i'm not even mad lol, almost every claim is BS and i know that. Every one of the author's gripes with the MRM are being addressed and this isn't even a knowledgeable article, just a piece of clickbait.

Anne Theriault Feminist blogger

Lol...Pass.

[–]Lethn 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well done for spotting it before me, nice to know there are people with brains on this subreddit. It's obviously a flame bait, note as with other free speech pretenders she's disabled to comments page to prevent any backlash to her stupidity.

[–]James32015 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I know very few MRA'S that claim that mens issues are CAUSED by feminism. What they do take issue with is how hostile feminists become when mens issues are discussed at all

[–]Pornography_saves_li 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

A lot of them ARE caused by feminism. Like Sexual Assault laws that reverse the burden f oroof. These things didnt pop out ov thin air. Defend feminism somewhere ese.

[–]James32015 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not defending feminism at all I'm as anti as they come just saying that not everything bad ia caused by it. Male disposablity is much more of a problem with society generally

[–]Pornography_saves_li 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

True. But look at how many issues were created by feminist thinking that apply to men, and you will drop the 'feminism didnt cause it' stuff awfully quickly. Too many men are too quick to forgive the absolute evil that is feminism.

[–]James32015 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah your right. Arguing against feminism is so damn hard cause people see it as arguing against women. I triesb arguing against all this affirmative consent bs with some friends of mine and it's like talking to a brick wall

[–]Pornography_saves_li 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Political correctness. Its a conversation killer. Anyone that cant think is less than useless, if your friends cant think through this elementary shit, they are too gynocentric to associate with. Cut them loose and find people with a brain to hang out with.

Thats really the only solution.

[–]Generic-username427 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"MRAs believe that feminists are to blame for basically everything that's wrong with their lives. The Men's Rights Movement is a reactionary movement created specifically to counter feminism, and most (if not all) of their time and resources go towards silencing and marginalizing women"

If you swap the usage of MRA and feminists (as well as men and women) in this paragraph you basically get a tumblr feminist

[–]mammothleafblower 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I stopped reading at the point she said "Let's not pretend that all opinions are created equal". Unbelievable arrogance for ANYONE to think their opinion is more important than someone else's.

[–]yummyluckycharms 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I stopped reading when I saw the article was from huffpuff.

That rag long ago gave up any pretense of being a news media outlet, and instead hopped on the radical left SJW train. Nobody I know reads it anymore.

[–]Lipophobicity 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"The problem is that none of these things are caused by feminism, or equal rights for women"

I'm glad she at least sees that these are currently two different things

[–]Keiichi81 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not only is it Huffington Post, but it's Canadian Huffington Post. It's no surprise that it's dripping with SJW slant.

[–]salacio 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

>cishet

Instantly dropped.

[–]90blacktsiawd 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The author of that piece comes off as nothing but an ignorant, self entitled brat who stops her feet while screaming about "It's not fair I want it my way and I want it right now!"

She really sets a poor example of the human race and what we can be capable of.

[–]inspiringpornstar 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Article written by? A feminist blogger. What is your group really doing? Apparently belittling men, so that just makes her a hypocrite
