This should terrify absolutely everyone.

[–]SlashSero 43 points44 points45 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So should the staggering suicide rate, homicide victim rate and work-related death rate for men. This is part of the reason why men on average men live a shorter life, but it doesn't really bother people all that much. Men are considered disposable, so it doesn't surprise me at all they'd rather have a hundred innocent men in jail than one guilty escaping justice.

[–]dungone 15 points16 points17 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think this is worse, though. Not even as a men's rights issue, but because of the other gross violations of Constitutional rights that these people will tolerate. They have such a fundamentally flawed understanding of civics that we should all fear the educational system that is churning them out.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Except for a majority of college women?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not at all.

It just justifies what comes next.

"It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer"

How is it that modern, western university students can have more backward ethical compasses than a guy 235 years dead. For so called academics, these people are sickeningly ignorant of their own civilisation's long struggle to achieve the kind of liberties they so casually disregard.

[–]intensely_human 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They don't trust the lessons from that long history of bloodshed and escape from bloodshed because they believe that society has always been, and still is, totally invalid based on its oppression of women.

[–]xynomaster 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The people who argue this way just don't think of men as people.

Once you make that logical leap the rest just falls into place.

[–]anon445 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

these people are sickeningly ignorant of their own civilisation's long struggle to achieve the kind of liberties they so casually disregard

How true that rings, in multiple ways.

[–]PierceHarlan[S] 32 points33 points34 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Friends, is there any wonder there's a "rape epidemic" on campus when so many of our daughters don't know that a nod of agreement constitutes consent? Seriously? Maybe THAT should have been my headline. There's so much wrong with this thing, I didn't know where to begin.

One thing is clear to me: the sexual grievance machine has really messed up our kids' heads with its rape hysteria. Congratulations, extremists--you've won. Our kids are officially brainwashed.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm more interested in the idea that apparently 20% of women have been raped, but 30% have apparently seen ghosts.

[–]Vandechoz 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's so much wrong with this thing, I didn't know where to begin.

I got that exact same feeling reading through it.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points26 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Of course they think that - as they aren't at risk of being falsely convicted of rape.

[–]intensely_human 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Democracy cannot be counted on to produce just laws unless the laws are equally applied, in all cases. If the laws are unequally applied, then some will argue for draconian punishments that they themselves will be immune to.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Being equally applied isn't enough for a law to be just.

The oft repeated example is: "In its majestic equality, the law forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges"

Such a law - even if applied equally, isn't a just law. It only impacts the poor, and as such will still have the rich arguing for draconian punishments as they themselves will be immune to it (even though it's technically applied to all)

[–]intensely_human 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being equally applied isn't enough for a law to be just.

I agree, and that's not what I said. In order to be trusted to produce just laws, a democratic legal system must always apply all laws (just or unjust) equally. If all voters are equally affected by all laws, then voters will avoid making unjust laws, and will modify existing unjust ones.

So equal application of law creates an incentive structure which, when combined with democracy, can be expected to produce just laws.

[–]BruceCampbell123 19 points20 points21 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

there is a disturbing absence of understanding about what constitutes "consent." As but one example, a dizzying 44 percent of women polled didn't think nodding in agreement constitutes consent. This lack of understanding likely skewed the results of the survey

Wow. We should be teaching women how to say "no". Apparently they don't know how. Are women these days such children that they have no situational awareness at all?

[–]PierceHarlan[S] 11 points12 points13 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You are exactly correct that too many women apparently don't know how to say "no." They are worn down by college guys' entreaties for sex, then after they give into it, they claim they were "coerced." http://www.cotwa.info/2015/06/study-shows-rape-rates-sharply-reduced.html

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So hypothetically, can I claim my car dealer stole thousands of dollars from me when he talked me into buying a car?

[–]McFeely_Smackup 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think I got extended warranty raped.

[–]wazzup987 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or when the dealer I went bait switched

[–]Vandechoz 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There was apparently even an "it depends" option that could have been selected, but only a small fraction chose to do so.

A man who rapes is a rapist. A man who doesn't rape is a well-disciplined rapist.

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah the latter is just one who hasn't raped yet or is good at hiding the evidence, including the would be victim.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A man who doesn't rape is simply lying about not raping

[–]Abstract_Logic 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's because all Penis in Vagina Sex is rape /s

And the comments are full of supports of this idea.

PIV is most certainly always rape. It is the very definition of violation, the very act itself is invasive by nature. In many cultures, women are seen as nothing than a vessel for semen. There will, sadly, always be women who go along with this subjugation. But thankfully one person is brave enough to speak the truth!

[–]Eulabeia 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For anyone reading this thinking that statement is a complete fabrication, it's not that far off the mark actually.

When feminists make claims about how so many rapists get away with their crimes, they are basing them on the assumption that every rape accusation, even the ones not reported to the police and simply a survey, must be true. How can anyone genuinely believe that without thinking that all men must be rapists anyway?

[–]richardnorth 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah and they would be shrieking and throwing tantrums if women could also be subjected to this same treatment.

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's interesting that both men and women favor the "no means no" system.

[–]binrobinro 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You lost me at "College women think".

[–]historyismybitch 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yet the same people would be against the death penalty because there is always a chance of executing an innocent person. The classic "I would rather a guilty man go free than risk killing an innocent one."

[–]Shawskank_Redemption 9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

The feminuts won't apply this to other crime situations though, just "sexual assaults". #FeministHypocrisy #DoubleStandard

[–]NoFuryLikeKristine 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is simply appalling.

[–]Folsomdsf 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is also the reason I don't believe in the death penalty and other extremely life changing punishments on it's level(IE cutting off the hand of a thief). Sure it's all well and good when I have video evidence of someone brutally murdering 20 folks at a shopping mall, but what about the one where there's no evidence other than third party testimony?

There's no taking back the punishment, they're dead, their hand is gone, etc. I refuse to main and murder people when there's even a .0001% chance they didn't do it. I am the state, the state is the one prosecuting, I will not become a murderer for that 1 in 100 chance that he was innocent.

[–]MonkeyCB 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I hope they all have sons.

[–]wazzup987 3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Why would you wish that on the sons

[–]Shaft-of-Patriarchy 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because in reality A: Within the next 20 years this will be the majority view anyway, so its either dont be born, or be born to one of these hags. B: Watch how quickly their opinion changes when it affects their children. Of course once the mass of society is against them it wont make any difference, they will be howling at the moon.

I recall it happened fairly recently actually, noted and published feminiazi scholar had a son who was falsely accused at college. She suddenly found a hidden cache of empathy. Briefly

[–]wazzup987 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Their have been a couple which one

[–]Shaft-of-Patriarchy 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ahh i only saw one, and ive slept since then i forget.

I think her name might have been Gloria. But if there are multiple known examples then i suppose im preaching to the choir

[–]redzinno 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Damn cold hearted kids we got coming up.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

What if women don't have a built-in sense of justice like (hopefully most) men do? Or what if it is so radically different, we wouldn't call it "justice"?

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It could simply be it's easier to justify harm against another group than your own.

Falsely accusing men doesn't hurt women.

Women being raped does.

It's probably just selfishness.

[–]Natalant 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't want to fall into that line of reasoning, a good portion of men in this survey felt the same way. Perverse senses of justice are not limited to one sex, as the many failed societies of modern times can attest to.

The principles of modern jurisprudence may seem obviously correct to you and I, but the same cannot be said for most human beings throughout most of history and they stand as one of the greatest achievements of our civilisation, acquired only through great effort.

[–]TBFProgrammer 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Justice is a loophole in a moral system designed to enable enforcing those morals on others. If not tightly constrained, it can and will be abused. Justice is a necessary evil with respect to the formation of a society in which any measure of trust can be extended. Do not mistake its nature.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the argument of feminist care ethics, actually. It also seems plausible that women, while probably not more empathetic than men, are less capable of compartmentalizing their empathy and seeing pain/suffering as a potentially positive tool of justice: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/19/science/19revenge.html?_r=0

Still, these are only statistically significant differences and not very predictively useful.

[–]sfasdfasdf454 5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

40 years of experience. Women have zero logic and zero sense of justice.

[–]Palpetinus 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The general idea of laws should be to rather let ten guilty people be free than imprison one person who never did anything wrong. I wonder if the whole idea of laws were always this messed up.

[–]apullin 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What is interesting about this is that this particular issue has an inversion from the common view on other crimes, and really the way our entire legal system is designed.

General, false negatives are vastly favored over false positives; people set evidenciary standards so that it is very unlikely for an innocent person to be convicted of, say, first degree murder. The standard are set so high that even people who possibly are guilty of that murder are not convicted, which would be a false negative occurrence.

So, false negatives are vastly favored over false positives, since the "cost" of a false positive, the conviction of an innocent person, is seen as abhorrent.

For this issue of rape, the inverse is true, exactly in the way that the article describes. People vastly favor the occurrence of false positives, because they see a false negative (an actual rapist not being convicted) being so incredibly costly.

This could likely be framed as both inhumane and un-American, in the sense of the American philosophy of the guarantees by the Bill of Rights and the premise of "innocent until proven guilty". (not un-American in the sense of against American traditional values or anything like that).

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is why women shouldn't vote, hold public office, or serve on jury's.

[–]IBdeadshadow -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's a little harsh maybe they have to take physiological evaluations first.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Everyone should. If you're on any kind of Welfare or other social program, I don't think you deserve to vote.
