We started dating as kids in college. 16 years later it's over.

I feel some level of gratitude, we had lots of good times but our paths are diverging and it's clear that it's time. It was her idea but it's amicable. It's been a rough few years and I've been putting this off trying to hold my life together but I was holding both of us back. The thought of another 16 to 30 years was impossible to me. It is time. I feel some regret for not doing this earlier, but we have a kid now and while that def makes this more painful Im greatful that we'll still be able to coparent in a productive way.

I've never been alone. That both scares and excites me. We have a 3 year old and one thing we agree on is wanting what's best for him. I'm sad I'll miss half his life growing up, but I know that he'll get 200% of my love when we do hang out.

I'm starting this process and as an over thinker im future tripping and feel the need to hoard control more than ever. I'm journaling like crazy to get the noise out of my head. I'm trusting that time will heal this. I'm also mentally prepping for all the creative project time I'll have to chase my ambitions.

In the meantime anyone got any good divorce positive content, movies, standup specials, novels or anything else to help laugh a bit in these wild times?

I'm cutting out social media/news there's just not room in my brain for that noise now.
