I thought things were going pretty well heading into a final MSA. Then my attorney asked for financial documentation wrt her current salary.

She called me and wanted to know why I wanted her financial information? Was it to go back on our agreed-to spousal support number? I said no, but I wanted to make sure I did my due diligence.

The conversation then devolved into her not wanting to end up like her mother (who never saved for retirement - and then her partner died before leaving her anything...). I said I understood that, but I just wanted to make sure I am looking out for my future as well and not limiting it somehow by agreeing to something I am not obligated to.

This prompted a huge argument about how my salary potential was so much higher than hers and that she had stayed home for all those years to look after our son. If your earning potential was so limited by staying home, then why are you now only working part-time when you could be working full time? You have to look out for yourself as well...

Sorry, just a rant I guess, but it is interesting that she is (rightly) looking out for her best interest, but when I do the same, I'm the bad-guy.
