I am a GA divorce attorney and there is a Georgia calculator that will give you a rough number. There was a big change in Georgia calculations in 2026 so make sure to search for a 2026 calculator. It asks for a lot of information so just put in what you can. The two biggest factors are income and time spent as the physical custodian of the children. More time = more offset of the presumptive amount. Don’t play around with this stuff, get an attorney asap. Some other folks are saying you’ll be out $400 an hour but if you’re outside of Atlanta the rates are more reasonable than that. PM me if you want

Dude, you need to do your homework before agreeing to proposals. That's really gonna bite you when the official negotiations begin. If you are separated, it's likely you are going to divorce and she doesn't sound like someone who is going to negotiate easily, so you need to be saving money for lawyers. Entry level lawyer is $400+/hr and and billable hours rack up easily.

I'm not sure if your wife works, but if not there's still imputed income -> what she would make if she wasn't lazy and got a job. That factors into child support. Also the number of overnights factors in. If you are 50/50 with minimum wage imputed and you are a medium earner, probably around $800 month child support. That doesn't include child care.

You need to check out the calculator for Georgia it will give you a rough idea and for the love of god don’t send cash. Everything should be electronic with a tag or description that says child support. If not she will get you for back pay in the future. Also consider your child support should include that you have 3 children and 1/3 of the child support should be deducted due to you have one 100%. Best of luck

You better document this very carefully. And save every check, receipt, payment. If things go south and she files suit, the State is likely to argue you never paid anything, and seek back child support.

You also should do research to see if, even if agreed to and properly documented, whether these out-of-court, out-of-system payments will count as child support if the courts get involved.

You should check to see if your state has a standard support calculator for your situation. Or ask a lawyer to do a calculation

My attorney gave me a range of what's reasonable for my state and the income difference. I started in the middle of that range. My ex asked for the max. I ended up with a little less than max child support.

This is even though I have 50% custody.

Give her the what's put in the agreement and buy things with/for your kids directly. Don't give more than that unless required by the court.
