My wife has informed me she is filing for divorce. This was totally unexpected and I have no idea where to even begin. We have a house and kids, etc. Bank accounts are shared. One question I do have is should I immediately go and open a new bank account in my own name in case I need to pay for legal stuff? Or is that pointless since we are still married, like any new account would essentially belong to her also?
