So I have a mess of friends who have gotten married or getting married or even getting re-married lately.

  • The first time marrieds I don't mind so much. When I got married I KNEW the odds were against a "til death do us part" ending. BUT Love and Beer Goggles right?
  • The re-marrieds I am FREAKING out about. It's easy to say you don't know how things go for a first marriage BUT in the second (or third) I don't think you can claim ignorance anymore.

In one case I have a couple I know really well. Because I introduced them. Both are divorced. Both had really terrible exes frankly. And I didn't want either of them to be alone during Christmas... So yeah I let nature take it's course. I thought I would hear the song "Two less lonely people in the world" by Air Supply and they both could be happy for awhile.

Instead I'm hearing :

Another one bites the dust

How did it happen?... well as always there is more to the story you see unknown to me the Female friend I introduced to my "buddy" was attending a wedding. A friend of hers was getting married (1st I think but who knows?). So they went and bid the happy couple all the happiness and solidarity... and my male friend proposed to the female friend a week later. sigh... AFTER only a few weeks of dating! And she accepted OF COURSE... egad this is bad.

If I told you that if you take a flight with 2 passengers (you and one other) and this particular flight would crash 56% of the time... would you take the flight?

IF I also told you that after you had had a horrific FIRST crash which you barely survived would you THEN get in another flight with another Crash Survivor and I told you you have 67% chance of crashing this time??? Oh and the lovely passenger that is flying with you? She caused the last crash she was in... Would you STILL take that flight?

Now imagine me a friend who cares about both passengers knowing both passengers really well AND I know that they have a 67% chance of not completing the flight! What do I say. Do I stand in the boarding lane isle tossing rice and good wishes as they get into their coffin shaped plane?
