My marriage to a BPD/NPD of 10 years ended 7 months ago. It was essentially over a year or more ago but I refused to let go. Even this past week I obsessed over her.

Monday I made a dating app account and matched with a girl who looked familiar. I recognized her as my son’s pre-K teacher who was I always kinda had a crush on secretly.

Yesterday we exchanged hundreds of text messages and planned a date for the weekend. I felt something. More or less the absence of something. I didn’t think about my ex or her finding “love” immediate after abandoning her marriage and family.

This girl was fun and stable and we just vibed. When I was in bed last night I wondered if we had started whatever this ends up being too quickly. When I say we vibed I mean we hit it off. We knew similar people. Our lives were parallel and I’m hyper vigilant so I know she wasn’t mirroring me like my ex did when we met. This woman is legit as far as the circles she is in.

But are hundreds of texts and a phone call too much on the first day of knowing someone? Is my game rusty? I had her laughing. There was a spark.

We’re both in our late 30s but I haven’t dated since before my ex wife. Idk if I’m going it right.

Was the goodnight text I sent too much? Should I text her good morning? My ex and my age have left me faking confidence. I hate it. The last woman I connected with ended up draining me for a decade and then started dating her affair partner before I had a chance to know what way was up.
