My stbEx have been over for a long time now. We are living together as co-parents and roommates. It works ok as we don’t argue much but I feel like I need to move on.

I just called a local lawyer that said initial appointment was $450 and typical retainer after that was atleast $4k up to $15k. I cannot afford that.

Do I try to navigate this without a lawyer? My stbEX and I have agreed that it’s over but agreeing on child custody and possessions may be difficult. I’m willing to compromise a lot on possessions to get a good custody plan in place. (I have a very unusual work schedule).

She’s as happy as could be living as roommates/coparents. I feel stuck.
