My ex, who I had hired a full time nanny/maid living in house, dreaded summer vacations abroad because she had to do everything herself (laundry, no cooking) and complained that she was just a maid on trips. So what does that make me, the driver/ chauffeur tour guide and full time employee working remotely? She had no job either and I entertained the kids. My kids told me she never once did a puzzle with them, played board games, nothing.

Yup, martyrdom…

Let me guess.. She practically begged for the relationship to “evolve” to a bridal gown and children. Then once she got her wish, her lifelong dreams suddenly turned to “martyrdom” she never saw coming..? Same old script..

I read the linked article and it is an extremely biased one sided collection of anecdotes. It's a diatribe against tradwifes and doesn't look at any statistics or studies.

Also, divorce happens to those fsmilies who have two working partners just as much.

“Traditional Role” advocacy has become my wheelhouse since divorcing four years ago. Defined gender roles where the man protects, provides, and guides while the woman creates, nurtures, and submits are definitely the “back to the future” path we need as a society. The Gen Z folks are moving that way hard.

Tradwife/housewife burn out is definitely a thing. In older days what prevented it was spreading the housework load among a multi-generational family living together and/or polygyny with multiple women in the home. As women aged out of child bearing that’s when they would become the “Proverbs 31 Woman” who was an entrepreneur outside the home, and they could do that because younger women were doing the housewife/SAHM tasks. As long as we insist on monogamous/nuclear-family living our relationships are going to continue to be broken.

I've said this many times, and I'll keep saying it until men start listening: The concept of the SAHM is dead. Women killed it.

It's one of the few places that I agree with people like the ones quotes in that fluff-piece of an article. Despite the fact that divorce has become easier and faster, the laws around divorce still GREATLY favor the woman. In their bones, these laws assume that the woman is the victim of a divorce, despite the fact that women are initiating ing the VAST majority of them. And while some marriages are dissolved for legitimate reason, many are now dissolved for one silly reason: the woman thinks she deserves better, and is convinced by he friends, family and social media that she CAN do better.

And despite all the talk of "trad wives", I've met VERY FEW SAHMs that really fit that mold. They aren't taking care of their kids, they're putting them in daycare. They aren't taking care of their homes, they hiring cleaners. Hell, they've even having their groceries delivered. And the work that isn't farmed out is expected to be split EVENLY with a husband who gets ZERO assistance is earning money for the household. The man is caring for the house before work, then working 8-12 hours, then coming home and expected to IMMEDIATELY take over all household duties for the remainder of the night. Traditions of the woman cooking, cleaning and caring for children are largely being phased out, or ruled "slavery"

There is no protection from this, other than insuring that your wife maintains her career and is NEVER allowed to stay at home. This isn't a downside......most children will get better care in a daycare or with a paid nanny anyway. Insure that your wife maintains her job and hire out the work she would have "traditionally " been doing.

As rampant as these crazy women are, we men have to take responsibility to not being good husbands as well.

But I think MOST men want to make it work with MOST women. But that is not reciprocated as seen by the percentage of divorces that are initiated by women.

Make sure your kids know stay at home wives ate a huge liability. Divorce rates to high for either gender to risk it. Not saying it can’t work but it hurts both sides in case of a divorce and breadwinners get hurt the most.
