2022 Honda Pilot. 29,500 miles, I’m the only owner. Maintenced regularly as per the manual. My vehicle is parked in a locked garage when not in use. Fuel door locks and must be opened from inside vehicle. Three mornings ago, while driving home after a doctors appointment engine sputtered, then gave out on highway. I was able to pull over. Engine would not restart. Towed to dealership mechanic service shop. Mechanic observed and sent me photos of a brownish residue on the body of the vehicle under the fuel door. I never drip gas on my Pilot. Fuel tested by mechanic at 20% alcohol. I fill up with 93 octane 100% of the time at a reputable source. White residue appeared after fuel sat for a few minutes. Mechanics do not see white substance like this often. Solve this riddle please.

Now, I should add…Ex summons me to a doctor’s appointment for the child the night before this engine/fuel system failure occurred. Doctor’s appointment was for one of those easily treated at home things. So ex knew when and where I would be the next morning when I arrived for the appointment. More background: 8 years divorced, constant custody battle. Full day hearing in two weeks deciding custody, parenting schedule, support…. Tons of depositions, motions and previous hearings had over a span of years. If this helps any.
