To those who are mired down in anxiety, darkness and uncertainty, please hear me that you will get through this and you will be happier on the other side. I married the person I thought was my forever partner. Gradually over the 15 years of our marriage, she started to become distant and less engaged as my partner. One day while having lunch with her and our daughters, she left to go to the bathroom and her phone was on the table. I saw a text come through from her supervising attorney that was inappropriate. I asked her about it and she claimed it was he who was pursuing her and she was upset about it. She told me she'd tell him to stop, and I left it at that.

A few months later, I was laying on the bed and her phone was next to me while she was in the shower. Another text came through and it was the same as before from the same dude, except I looked through her texts with him and it was clear that she was in a relationship with him. I was devastated. I confronted her and told her it was over. Long, short, she begged me not to leave and we agreed to go through marriage counseling. We did that for months, and things seemed to improve, and then they went back to the way they were again.

Ultimately we decided to divorce, and only a few months later did I find out she'd been cheating on me for SIX YEARS with this dude. Even while we were going through marriage counseling. That threw me and I took a massive hit on my own sense of self worth, anxiety and my overall confidence.

Ultimately I worked on myself, went through counseling (please also do this), gradually started dating myself, and then others. And I met the person I should have been with this entire time. We went on a date, then another, and then another, and we're now living together and I couldn't be happier. You're going to reach a point where you get to the other side, you stop thinking about your ex so often, and one day you will realize you don't think about her at all.
