I’ve been lurking here for a bit and in r/deadbedrooms and coming to terms with a probable, imminent collapse. I don’t want a divorce, we have multiple young children, etc etc like so many others here.

I’m just horrified to understand what I’ve always been to her: a replaceable asset. She deals with me as if we are coworkers, and I’m just now understanding that on some level she always did. It feels so disingenuous, and I feel so naive for not understanding.

Just saying I appreciate you all sharing your experience. It’s helping me and others like me, one way or the other. I hope I can salvage this, but I’m mentally getting ready to protect myself as my family/life are split apart.

It’s surreal to schedule an appointment with an attorney to be prepared for the worst. I expect her to file within the next 6 months.
