My wife is proposing to move out and that we agree on an amount for her to open in a new account separately in her name. I already have a secondary account in my name as well. No kids and we are both employed. Home was purchased mostly with my assets from pre-marriage. I have bank statements to prove.

Am I potentially being baited into putting myself into a worse position? Am I being overly optimistic that this is her following through with an uncontested divorce?

Was wondering if others experienced similar situations. Best case scenario, she takes the cash and leaves. Our retirement accounts untouched and I keep the house post-divorce.

We had problems prior, but infidelity has broken my back. Kept some evidence for safe keeping. 5 years.
