Today I went to what was supposed to be the final divorce hearing.

My stbxw’s lawyer was not prepared and they asked for a continuance.

But they did use it as an opportunity to try to extort me for money.

They actually asked for money, which at first she said, was to move into a new house, but then changed the story to It was to buy our kids Christmas gifts.

At this point, I’m living paycheck to paycheck and using credit cards for most things outside of bills.

I can’t believe I was stupid enough to think we were actually going to settle.

I don’t know why I thought this woman would be any different than she ever was.

I am different, but she is worse than ever.

Long story short. I told them I did not have the money to give, which is true.

I told them that I would get a loan for the money she’s asking for if she would agree to waive her rights to alimony, but they said no.

By the way, when she left, she told everybody that would listen that she would not go for alimony.

That was a lie like everything else.

My family treated her like a daughter. But if she is trying to alienate my family, she’s doing a good job of it.

I know she has mental health issues, but that can only be used as an excuse up to a point.

So now they have scheduled a settlement conference and another date for the final hearing.

Now I know she’s gonna try to get as much as she can so I’m gonna have to be on the defensive.

The shame of it is that I was never in the first place going to fight her on what was fair.

But she doesn’t want what is fair, she wants every penny she can get.

It’s like every story I’ve read on here dovetails with every other story.

These people are entirely soulless and devoid of any accountability.

What I know for sure is that I will not be bullied by her and her attorney.

At that at this point if she can’t be reasonable, I’m just going to go to court.
