Long story short. Me and wife of 8 years have had our ups and downs. Two things have me confused lately. She seems to be quite fed up with still having arguments and has suggested we have “talks about the future of our relationship” She’s hinted this is a potential precursor to divorce, saying she’s “not sure what direction this might take”.

On the other hand she has shown a very strong interest in us consulting a financial advisor to examine our insurance situation and get wills updated.

I know it might sound like the plot of a murder mystery.

But more to the point I’m wondering if she’s trying to use these processes to sort out our finances in case we do go for divorce? I’m wondering if there is anything I should keep in mind to protect myself?

For context I think it’s worth mentioning she works in law. And even family law specifically. Also she came in to this relationship with the overwhelming bulk of the finances. (House, savings, vehicle). I’m imagining she’s feeling fearful and protective over this. Does any others add up or am I being overly paranoid?
