The situation is dire and even with an impending divorce I still am holding out even a minute chance that things can turn around for the sake of our daughter. At the moment, my wife has told me that I have until the end of this week to withdraw the divorce filing and enter into another round of couple's therapy (our 3rd) or that the path to reconciliation will be closed for her. This despite our pre-trial being almost half a year away and a contested divorce lasting up to 2 years out... She is seeking SOLE custody of our daughter if we do proceed.

I’m not optimistic about another round of couples therapy, but my wife wants to do it so she can say she did everything to save the marriage.

She says I need to call off the divorce first to show her that I am putting my full effort into it and not just doing it as a formality. Does she have a point? In the past two years I have done alot of work on myself, including going to the gym regularly, seeing personal couselors, couples therapists, a neurologist, getting prescribed ADHD meds, taking supplements to deal with anxiety, improve my mood... She has only read 2 audiobooks, and sees a therapist every 2 weeks, who I think just enables her.

My fear is that if I do that, and therapy is unsuccessful I will need to re-file again and lose 4 months of waiting time and another $5K+ in lawyers fees. Its not a big deal, but I am also thinking what’s the point? If the therapy is successful we can always not finalize the divorce.
