You have to admit, though, nothing tops the sheer gaslighting narcissism of, "you kill yourselves because you don't think about the people you inconvenience with your dead bodies." Ok, I am so tired of this idea that women only use less violent methods and attempt more when NO data proves that definitely.

If you look at data from the CDC using their Wonder search platform, there are more male suicides for every single method (unless you get into specifics like which substance was used for self-poisoning), even the “less violent ones.” People really need to stop thinking that rates alone tell the whole story, because that’s like saying 50% of 100 is greater than 10% of 1000.

Also, an attempted suicide and a suicide attempt are not necessarily the same thing. An attempted suicide, by definition, does NOT include any person who actually did die by suicide. It’s someone who went to ICU and self-reported a suicide attempt or who the doctors classified as an attempted suicide, which can include non-suicidal self-injuries that get conflated with the results. So we already have a problem since all 49,000 people who died by suicide (about 80% of whom were male) aren't being included in the attempted suicide tally.

Maybe women attempt more, maybe men attempt more, it’s difficult to know perfectly. Focusing only on methods can distract from the fact that a huge number of people are dying by suicide and deserve compassion and support.

I have never heard "happens to men too" as a response women mentioning sexual assault. Maybe men say it when people claim or imply it's a women exclusive thing - then it's more than reasonable.

Men self-report suicide attempts or suicidal thoughts much less, and for many there is no one to listen, or they fear their experiences will be invalidated.

Furthermore, in states of severe suicidal crisis, people experience profound cognitive constriction, which makes them incapable of processing the long-term aftermath or how a scene will look.

The elephant in the room is that men are both socially conditioned to and biologically capable of tolerating more pain, hence often choose more lethal methods.

It does happen to men to but it's never my first, second, or tenth response. Also there is a lot of support for female victims of SA, but virtually none for men contemplating suicide.

The first one is so ironic, All they do is bring up how women attempt it more. Which is still extremely concerning, sad, & maybe somehow the goverment should help life situations to improve suicidal thoughts from people.

This is exactly what they do, bring it up so they say it’s not our problem. Maybe it’s not a gender problem.

It does show they could care less about an actual result just as long as they seem like the victim. They scoff at the fact men have more deaths not for lives gone or potentially greater societal pressures but because they aren’t seen as the victim.

Most of this is true though. Except for the part about the cleanup maybe and the part about what comments always or never say. Those are BS. But everything else is true and not misandry. Because we've made it this way. We've fucked ourselves. If men making men's lives hell is misandry, then OK, maybe it belongs here. But I don't think that's the case.
