As long as there's a shared participation in a kid's life, and a father is present if he wants to, then all is good. If your ex-wife won't allow you equal participation then blame it on the bitch of a wife you got and the bitch of a choice you made in marrying her, instead of the government.

It's wrong that men aren't fulfilling their "father roles" and aren't needed, but somehow is wrong if men are overworked in providing for their families because then they are absent from a kids life. Basically, whatever way society turns out, this guy will always be unsatisfied.

Unlike in the idea that seems to be propagated women do not leave a home and a marriage for no good reason to become single mothers for the enjoyment of it, or whatever people think is going on. The below describes the situation better:

Some people have serious problems with relationships, and with their own coping with stress and internal issues. Some of those people are men. They get into relationships, often with women who are kind and understanding and see their wounds and want to help them. The person with issues though doesn't want help, they are happy with their maladaptive ways of coping that may end up being abuse or serious neglect of the relationship. Eventually the person with issues who doesn't address them ends up being just a burden to their partner, who may now be dealing with the needs of one or more children who legitimately cannot address their own needs and have to be prioritised. After much deliberation the female partner puts the needs of herself or kids first and leaves, and she may need government support to do so.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Not wanting to sit in a pit of misery however there is some truth to the red/black pill. They didn't just come out of nowhere and they are worth exploring. I watched the video and I don't think the content creator unpacked his argument very well. He states all of the issues stem from the government but does not provide concrete examples. He doesn't even explain what he means by the government is replacing the father's role in society.

To answer your question on marriage. I think you need to be in a headspace and a physical space where you can think about this. Don't consider what culture is saying, don't follow a political agenda, or put too much weight on what other people think you should do. Look inside your own heart and ask yourself what you would like to do.

I didn’t watch it but the points you’ve taken away from it don’t seem to be redpill or blackpill, as long as you don’t feel like women are to blame for those things. Gender is incredibly complex and I agree that even if you want to get free of the binary there is so much ingrained within us from birth. I remember seeing a study where people were asked to talk to a baby playing with toys. Normal, nice people, and when they were told the baby was a boy vs girl their language completely changed. And then they were told what the experiment was and they were shocked because it was just automatic.

My personal hope for society is that we continue questioning the gender binary and why we think the way we do about men and women etc. We need more education. I love that young people are having these conversations online though and I think it’s a positive sign that we are able to release ourselves gradually from these rules that do us no service.

i definitely agree men have more strict rules regarding how much they must stay within the bounds of masculinity in order to be perceived positively. And similarly, women are often looked at positively for taking on traditionally masculine characteristics but they must maintain femininity in certain aspects. It’s ridiculous how women can wear masculine clothes as fashion but men doing the opposite are seen as gay (and feminine guys in general can be straight or bi but people like… refuse to believe it lol), or how male names for girls is super cool but a boy with a girl name is 100% unacceptable, or how bisexual men are assumed to be secretly gay but bisexual women are assumed to be secretly straight… I would love a future where all these things are challenged at least and not taken as fact.

Why is starting a family supposed to be a virtue? You start a family because you want to. Because you have a person you want to share your life with, and maybe you both want kids. It's just your own expectations and needs that should inform this choice. And government often takes the role of a father, coz fathers often abandon this role themselves. Women are left with kids that they can't raise by themselves. Yeah the family courts can be biased yada yada, the fact still stands women are the majority of single parents. Looking for what it means to be a man, or a father is a fruitless endeavour. You can try to be a good partner and a good parent. Those things are not gendered. And if your partner won't like you due to some bullshit gender roles then they are not worth being with you.

You can blame that on the cost of living under Capitalism. The economic system that forces mothers and fathers to be away from their kids and takes away their quality time to raise a healthy family and to raise the next generation of healthy, well adjusted adults to take over the reigns of society.

It seems to me that Capitalism and raising a family are at odds with each other. If you want fathers and mothers to be there for their kids and spend quality time with them, you should be fighting for workers pay, unions, child care, universal healthcare, legalizing drugs, raising minimum wage to a living wage, more public school funding, more funding for social services, free higher education, student loan forgiveness, worker cooperatives, democratizing the workplace, taxing the rich etc.

Everything I mentioned would go a loooooong way to helping couples deal with stress that comes with paying bills and raising children, but that sounds too much like Socialism unfortunately and way too many people simp for Capitalism (the root of the problem).

Haven't watched the video, but addressing a few points...

No. Nothing replaces a father. Ever. His love, his warmth, his guidance. The state (UK here) does sometimes need to step in because some fathers choose to walk away and the children need financial help to be able to survive since the father elects not to provide that (and the state doesnt make him provide for a child in relation to what it costs just raise a child, just what he can "afford"). Also, in UK, unless there are extreme cases of abuse, fathers will get 50/50 custody if they want it (as above, many don't want it so dont have it).

What do you think raising kids is about? If you think its all about you and what you can get out of it directly (status in society, power over others) stay well clear. Raising kids is about caring for another life that you chose to create, and getting pleasure from seeing anotjer human being flourish. Its inherently an unselfish process. Its not a "game" that you can win or loose. It another human life, to be valued and loved, no matter what else happens in your life.
