I belong to very few subs, those that are connected to my hobbies, my country sub and this one are the ones I frequent.

Yesterday in my country, the big news was the firing of 3 male radio presenters.

In the news, cases of gender based violence have been on the up tick. (Trigger warning) A 24 year old was raped had her spine broken and died, another one went on a date, refused to put out and was thrown off the 12th floor, she survived with pelvic damage.

Last week, these male radio presenters went on a tirade on how It's the womens fault...That women  are too easy nowadays. They should play hard to get blah blah blah. Basically victim blaming and shaming these women for expecting the men they are involved with not to rape or kill them.

People on social media were not taking this crap. Influencers launched campaigns to boycott the radio station while tagging and calling out advertisers. When the station realised they would potentially lose money they went on damage control. They pulled the offensive broadcast off their platform, issued an apology,forced the presenters to apologise and gave the radio presenters a two week vacation suspension.  Basically saying ' 2 weeks is enough time for you lot to forget. So, they can go on holiday for a few weeks, and come back refreshed and relaxed for even more misogyny... stay tuned'

Then something big happened. Probably the biggest advertiser in the country pulled out of the station. Publicly. That's when actual change happened. The presenters were fired within hours of that announcement. The station was also fined for hate speech.

I was so elated! We actually managed to hold toxic men responsible for their toxic actions!

But, when I opened my country sub, my joy turned to seething anger... misogynists were moaning about cancel culture about how the presenters didnt say anything wrong, about how the women should be responsible for their actions . Squaring up in the comments with the women and level headed men.

I saw red. I started arguing in the comments.

But then I remembered that beautiful woman saying Block facebook, block whatsapp, block instagram, block block block... in a video that was shared here once.

I decided to block, move on and put my peace first. I unsubbed from my country's sub.

I was able to enjoy the rest of my Sunday and celebrate the firing of the twats with my girlfriends and sisters. We had some sparkling wine, we pulled some money and decluttered some clothes and will have them donated to a womens shelter this week.

My tolerance for bullshit is at an all time low thanks to fds and I've never been more at peace.
