Wow. Just... I'm speechless. This whole video makes sense. I feel like I've been ADD since I left my NVX. Feels like my brain just doesn't work right anymore. The last part hits the hardest. That explains everything.

Someone knows if there is a cure or treatments for this brain damage? I think I have it. I've been mentally abuse by everyone in my life. And I do have memory problems. My brain used to be fast and sharp and now i can barely read a book.

I would like to add that the damage is reversible. Please look into neuroplasticity.

I am also fairly new into this but there are methods you can practice to unfreeze and rewire your brain. I know it sucks in the mean time feeling like you re not 100% yourself. The fact that I can’t think straight sometimes freaks me out as well because now Im actually defenseless for not being able to scheme my way out of a situation.

That being said, there is hope. It takes dedication and commitment to reclaim what you ve lost. Every day I keep talking to my brain like shes my best friend. I calm her down when shes triggered, and try to keep her in a perceptibly safe environment. I also appreciate the works shes done to keep me safe and help me grow over the years. The key also is to understand the language of the different parts if your brain, besides being dedicated to foster a perceptibly safe environment for the brain to heal.

And the wonderful thing is that brains do heal and recover their strengths by themselves like all things of nature. As long as you keep them safe and away from sources of toxicity aka MEN.

Many of us who end up in relationships with narcissistic abusers also come from families rife with narcissistic abuse (including inadvertent abuse by female family members with internalized misogyny). Siblings can be the worst abusers because they feel entitled to continue patterns they developed in childhood (often as an outlet for abusive parental behavior).

Don’t be afraid to cut them off if they continue into adulthood. You can’t just “turn off” love when you part ways with an abuser, and that’s okay, but you have to develop self love and realize what this video is all about: your abusers, whoever they are, are causing literal brain damage.

The whole phrase is “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” We accept the “love” from men we were taught to accept by our families, and it’s okay to say NO to all of it and take time to re-parent, heal, and carefully reconsider who we allow access to our brains so we don’t sustain any further damage.

Well if this ain’t me from the way I’ve been treated by my father.... I literally have no short term memory for my age and have made the same mistake multiple times at work even after I tell myself that I’ll never do something so stupid again. It’s like every time I do learn something it pushes something else out of my memory

It also lowers your immune system function (body is putting that energy towards more productive things, like, survival) and long-term your immunity goes down. I learned this one semester when I was taking on too many jobs and classes. When the break came, I was sick four times in a month. Usually I get sick once or twice per year.

This makes me wonder... if you have friends/family who get sick a lot, maybe they don’t show it (or realize it) but it could be a sign of an abusive relationship.

I have a good friend who suffers from a progressive neurological illness that came on suddenly in the past couple of years that is ultimately terminal. She spent 40 years with a narcissist husband who made her life a living hell. She divorced him a few years ago, but not only did she leave with nothing to get away from him, but now her body is failing her. I believe all the stress over those 40 years caused so much damage to her nervous system that it manifested as this awful disease.

Living with narcissistic people is not only harmful to your emotional health, but it can cause real physical problems through the inflammation stress creates!

Not only are LVM not worth it in a relationship sense, but they can actually be harmful to your body over time.

Narc Dad who psychologically abused me his entire life. He LOVED seeing me distressed and upset and humiliated. HE would take me for long drives and just scream at me in that loud booming male voice. I have literally jumped out of a moving car to get away from him. When I was younger and more of a child I would just sit and cry and let him do it. I thought I deserved it and I truly was a bad person.

It also certainly does something to your brain. I notice I have a different learning curve than most people. Everyone else can understand concepts easily but it takes me a while to "get" things. This has held me back in life because I was always tired of feeling stupid and not aligned with my peers in the way that they could absorb knowledge.

Thankfully he died. But now my older sister "the golden child" has taken on his destructive abusive narc energy. She is always triggering me and gaslighting me and when I react she calls me "mentally ill". She has destroyed my property ( threw out all my clothes), surreptitiously records me on her phone without my knowledge, and talks shit about me to my entire family. She has sabotaged my career and is relentless at disparaging me to other family members She has even tried to get me committed. I WISH I WAS FUCKING JOKING

I am seeing a therapist now and s-l-o-w-ly unravelling all the fuckery. For a long time i genuinely believed I was a bad person and slipped into a catatonic depression. When you get told you are a piece of shit your entire life by those who are supposed to love you - you believe it.

I truly believe they gave me brain damage. And now I need serotonin just to function.

Narc resources for newbies = Dr Ramani on Youtube. She is a life saver.

Also, if you were raised by narcissists you are more likely to find yourself in a relationship with one because they have a similar energetic profile to those who are supposed to be your parental "caregivers". You think being treated poorly = love, so you are attracted to people who mirror that.

My mind is blown. A year later after escaping my insanely abusive narc ex, I STRUGGLE like never before with memory. I literally feel at times like I can’t remember most of the relationship. It’s like a nightmare that I have trouble recalling if it was real or not.

I’m slowly recalling it though, and working through it. My memory is regaining. It’s painful to remember or be triggered by those memories, but it’s part of the process of learning, and growing, and healing past the abuse.

i’ve developed POTS syndrome from growing up with narc abuse from my mother and sister and have had 5 fainting spells within the span of a year and a half one being so bad my family had to call an ambulance because i went blind for 6 minutes after coming to. severe brain fog and zero short term memory. i saw a psychologist who did biofeedback therapy (apparently outdated but whatever it was back in 2015) and he said my autonomic nervous system levels were way off and my baseline was the same as he saw with patients who had PTSD from being in the war talking about their trauma from it. my body is literally attacking itself due to stress and my psychiatrist now thinks i have ADD. it’s literally just abuse. i probably do have ADD but who’s to say that wasn’t developed through trauma in my formative years.

In the process of being diagnosed with schizophrenia because of ten years of daily lies and gaslighting, manipulation. I even warned him years ago I was worried he was doing something to my brain that couldn’t be undone and he didn’t listen and now I’m scared of everyone. I used to be such a different bright and obnoxiously bubbly person but I don’t know how I ever was compared to who I am now
