It's good that in retrospect and by writing it all out you can see the red flags. Next time, you will weed out this type of man much faster -- maybe even before having unsatisfying sex with him!

The (huge) lie about his age should have been a dealbreaker. It's great you found out on your own, though.

Frankly, a 54-year-old man crying about "unexpected feelings" for a woman, saying he "cares too much and doesn't understand his feelings for you" is a red flag in and of itself. There's love, and then there's that display of either astonishing immaturity or manipulation (or both).

Good on you for blocking, definitely the right move. This one's a dud for sure.

You should have blocked him the moment you found out he lied about his age. You can’t start a relationship on deception. Why did he feel the need to lie? It’s because he knew you wouldn’t be okay with the truth, and he hoped to manipulate you into being okay with it. But I’m glad he’s in the bin now.
