I wasted 3 years telling and showing him I will always be there waiting for him. I don’t know what’s wrong with me bc I miss him everyday after finally ending it. My heart is broken.

Do you miss him or feelings/qualities associated with him? Because if you can separate the two, you can start to let him stay in the past more peacefully and then know that the healthy feelings you experienced with him is what you can experience again but with a more compatible partner.

This is so helpful. It was hope, I felt calm and protected- but then he would get scared and disappear for 2 weeks or more. Conversations were intelligent, he’s brilliant and powerful but scared to death of his emotions.

Maybe you’re grieving. Maybe you’re grieving the relationship you wanted to build, the partnership you thought you were working towards. Maybe you’re grieving the effort and time and how despite all that he still didn’t choose to change for you. That’s very different than missing who he is as a person, because clearly the person he is wasn’t good enough for you.

Thanks I needed to hear this. Not OP but I'm carrying alot of shame and have definitely been punishing my self because I let feelings compromise my sense of right/wrong. I don't know why it took this comment to wake me up to that but thanks.

Gal, we all make mistakes! I’ve been there too, and even more recently. The important thing is to recognize that those thought patterns and choices don’t serve you and be intentional about doing things differently going forward. If you need to seek out professional help to work through your insecurities there’s absolutely no shame in it. You’ve got this. Nobody worth waiting for is going to make you wait ❤️

Oh man. Waited 1.5 years for a guy to feel “ready” for a relationship. His excuse was work / finances. I was happy with crumbs, meeting once a month or so, being his best friend and mom over the phone everyday. It was total pick me behaviour.
