Hey ladies,

Just wanted to get this off my chest. In the past few months when I have given my opinion on a topic or question that was asked to me by either a woman in my family or one of my girl friends, it has often ended up in an argument.

For example: (1) a few weeks ago, a friend of mine learned that her ex's brother got engaged to a girl that she introduced him to. She felt some type of way thinking about how she and her ex should've been in that position as well. As a friend, I was there for her to validate her feelings but also to remind her that she shouldn't romanticize what she was seeing on social media. His multiple posts about his engagement seemed to me more about him showing off a requirement that he finally checked off (and finally on the path to having sex as they're Christian) rather than him showing off his happiness to be with HER. My friend adamantly defended her ex's brother and said I was reading into things too much because she could confidently say that the brother was a good guy (she's never hung out with him more than a handful of times so idk how she can make that claim). I let that argument go.

(2) Another friend recently joined an OLD app. A discussion slowly turned into her feeling offended when I said that attempting to find someone on an app during a pandemic seems a bit desperate. She said she wants to exhaust all her options and see what's out there because she does want someone in the future. She says she has high standards. To me that it just sounded like "let me go look in the trash, JUST IN CASE I find a diamond ring!" I also voiced that finding a HVM on an app during a pandemic is highly unlikely but she hit back saying "I'm a HVW and I'm on the app too. If it weren't for the pandemic, I wouldn't be on the app." I felt like that kinda proved my point.

What are your thoughts? AITA?
