A little more about the situation: I am 22 and in college. I am pretty laid back and chill however I take my school work very seriously and have a routine. I am working to make my life in order and feel like this is the best I’ve felt ever. I met up for a date with a man(32 divorced with two kids) I thought he was a real catch (attractive, fit, funny, educated, career oriented and well off) minus the kids of course but was willing to give it a go. I message him a day later after our date and he says “hey, what’s up?” I don’t respond in 30 minutes and he says “Wrong guy...thought so. Have a great week.” I was busy doing school work and responded as soon as I saw his message. I said “hey sorry I was busy doing school stuff, I’m taking summer classes remember? I really enjoyed seeing you and I hope we can do it again.” He then hits me with, “ I am sorry but I have no interest in seeing you again, I am looking for someone who is a little more balanced.” To which I respond, “I understand, farewell.”

Of course I don’t really understand what he means by that. Does he mean someone with an established career or what? I have no idea; I am trying to improve myself in the dating game so I would like to know what he means. He knew I was a student from the start and that I had a weird schedule. I’m not sure why we went on a date if he knew what he wanted, especially considering we are 10 years apart. Our lives are clearly in very different places.

TLDR: A guy shut me down because I wasn’t “balanced” enough, how do I do that for future relationships? Maybe I’m just being a little self conscious and nothing is wrong with me but I just want to know because he was well educated, fit, and attractive. All the things I hope to find in a man.
