When I would have sex with my boyfriend, I'd told him I was into being choked, slapped, called derogatory names etc. And he was into it too, it was good sex but I know now that's not healthy or normal whatsoever. I shouldn't be turned on by misogyny. How do you lose these "kinks"

no sorry I don't agree. this is just not true. with therapy she can work out why she has got these kinks, the real reason behind them, which she will discover is not healthy and work on unlearning them.
you are not born with fucking kinks. you are groomed to like them by men and porn. women don't realise one day that they are into getting slapped, called dehumanizing names, etc.
when I discovered masturbation as a teen I never imagined rough sex hell even just the thought of kissing was enough. but when I unfortunately discovered porn I did start to like spanking or being held down. that's fucked up. I know for certain if I didn't discover porn I wouldn't like those.
edit: I also used to read "unspeakable eroticas" too and it's almost as fucked up as filmed pornography. just look at the fanfic community. full of r*pe, incest, pedophilia and all justified with "kinks". when I used to read both fanfics or other erotic writings I couldn't get excited or even get off without them and I had to take a break from reading those and masturbation to be able to masturbate without anything and just my imagination.
so no, consuming any type of porn or "embracing our kinks" is not being sexual in a healthy way. sex, foreplay, making out, touching, hell even sexual tension, etc, should be enough.

I feel you with this - I've had similar kinks since I was young (no sexual trauma here). I think the first time I tied myself to my bedpost to see what it would feel like to be restrained I was maybe 8. When I discovered fanfiction later on, I was shocked to realize that there were others like me.
What I've found very interesting though is that BDSM does not equal romance for me. It's a high that I enjoy and fulfills some of my dare devil tendencies, but I get more turned on sweet kissing and super boring missionary or girl on top sex. It took being in a relationship with a sweet vanilla guy to realize that I saw the BDSM and the romance as two separate things.
As controversial as it may be for this sub, I'd love to find a HVM that wanted to engage in some of these behaviors as I do enjoy the natural high from it, but I would take a HVM with zero tendencies in a heart beat and just keep him out of my kink closet.

SO TRUE. I identify as a switch and submissive men are the worst. I'm on another kink centered social media site and I get so many messages from "submissive" men who want to get off on me topping them. It was actually one of these idiots that pushed me into finding FDS. I had asked him for more attention because I didn't feel like my needs were being met and instead he decided to remove himself from the picture because I was (his words) feeling neglected and he didn't want me to feel that way, so he thought it would be better to remove himself from the situation. WTF!!!

Listen to me : NOTHING IS WRONG WITH YOU
So you get turned on by being choked, there is NOTHING wrong with that. Lots of women do. Hell, I do. What matters is are you being safe? I never let just anyone tie me to the bed. There's a lot of conversations to be had, trust to be given ect. BDSM is nothing to be ashamed of and is predominately more female inclined then male. (Even of you are a sub) Stop being afraid or ashamed and own it.
If you still want to look into it, I heard this theory when I was a teenager and it makes sense: Woman are taught from a young age that they're sexuality is precious. That whom they've slept with, how meant times they've have had sex and how they have sex somehow was relevant to their worth. When women find out that they have a sex drive (which, commonly is higher than an average man's) they feel dirty about it. So how do you justify having sex but it not being "your fault". Rape fantasies. If you're the victim, you're not to blaim.
Is it a screwed up theory? Oh, god, yes - but it holds water. Sweetie, you enjoy rough sex. THAT. IS. OKAY. Find a safe partner amd have fun!

I'm not? I was admitting that as a free thinking female, I know I enjoy these things.
