Across the spectrum, women seem to be complaining about the same thing: While they read countless self-help books, listen to podcasts, seek out career advisors, turn to female friends for advice and support, or spend a small fortune on therapists to deal with old wounds and current problems, the men in their lives simply rely on them.

And yet they dare suggest we "communicate" more

Soon as they dump their emotional baggage onto you with their sob stories it’s time To cut them Off Quick

👍 I don't really believe the free therapy angle anymore, I just see it all as emotional blackmail.

If you "don't want to hear about my family or friends' issues", turnabout's fair play bitch.

I dated an Emotional Gold Digger and I've had close to zero desire to date ever since. His job paid 100% for therapy and he could have gone once a week no problem. But he had me, and other women in his life, to unburden himself on. Men like this have zero interest in getting better. They will keep making the same mistakes as long as there a woman they can "confess" to in their lives. They will get fantastic, free advice and never take it. It's exhausting - cut these scrotes off fast.

I always tell men, whenever they come to me with their problems and tell them my rates or they can go and see a therapist. My time isn’t for free

I just tell them I can't handle drama and I'm only here for good vibes.

I love this. They are so quick to leave us when we are going through depression etc so why shouldn’t we drop them like hot potatoes for their issues?

THIS. don’t be mad when that same energy is returned. I always tell anyone whatever energy you put out there will come back to you. It may not be now, or tomorrow but it will catch up to you and them same ppl will be sitting there with a shocked pikachu face wondering why this is happening to them? 💁🏿

One aspect of toxic masculinity (and why men also need feminism), is because toxic masculinity expects them to suppress their feelings.

But what suppressing all your feelings does is give men anger issues, bad impulse control and basically turn them into manbabies. It's ironic how women are "too emotional" when responding appropriately whereas man are overly emotional and explode due to repressing it all the time.

And as a result? The emotional overload spills over to women and we are negatively affected. We get invalidated for our feelings and at workplaces seen as "too emotional", we have to be therapists to manchilds because they don't want to go to therapy and unlearn years of emotional constipation. It is honestly frustrating and really needs to change, or at least steer clear of these energy vampires.

I think that they're not really told to suppress their emotions, just the tender ones-- compassion, vulnerability, fear. But they're coddled and supported if they push those experiences into "acceptable" versions like anger, sulking, guilt-tripping, scolding and taking offense.

Ooffff I’m about to send this to my ex since he wanted to call me a golddigger, meanwhile I was his therapist for a decade FOR FREE.

The countless hours I have heard him droning on about the same 5 traumatic things.

He snapped when I shouted at him that I didn’t want to hear it anymore and to go seek therapy. Ofcourse he refuses 🤮

Though Johnson brags about how wonderful her husband is—grateful he doesn’t exhaust her with his neediness like a lot of her married friends—she does wish men were encouraged to examine and explore their emotions in a safe setting, like therapy, before they boil over. “I’m tired of having to replace another broken bedside table because he didn’t realize he needed to talk about his feelings,” she admits.

Her "wonderful husband" frequently destroys bedside tables when he's upset?

"She became his therapist"

Not only is that so much undue stress on your relationship, an unhealthy way to relate to your gf, and a lot of work expected from her for free... she doesn't even have the authority of the therapist to call you on shit and tell you to do things differently. That's probably part of why they won't go to therapy, because a therapist would hold them accountable and insist they make changes to they way they think and act.
