Brooklyn 99 is like breathing fresh air when it comes to wholesome, non-toxic characters.
It opened my eyes about how cliche male and female characters are in mainstream comedy shows. Small details makes huge differences:
I am only on 2nd season and god damn I love them so much.

I loved the bit when he punches the writer for being homophobic towards Holt, how Terry's just big and ripped but a huge softy when it comes to protecting people he cares about, how Boyle is just a sweetheart who wants love and decent food and how Diaz is just a badass.
I live for how emotionless Captain Holt is but it's to a point it's hilarious and endearing. Him saying with a totally straight face "I'm devastated" always gets to me.
Also I have a bit of a weakness for Doug Judy because he is iconic.

Also I LOVE that Jake didn't confess why he punched the writer, maybe he didn't want to seem like a boot-kisser, but maybe also not to hurt Holt's feelings...

He gets all the more endearing and lovable! I want my future husband to be a Jake (but with a better credit score and not with a restraining order against Taylor Swift).

And also more punctual ! But yeah I feel you. I want a Jake too !

The father from the movie Hairspray. Loyal to his wife, loves her daughter and supports her in her struggle, generous and generally wholesome.
Ned from Pushing Daisies. Loves her even though he can't touch her, goes far and beyond to make her happy, loyal and a good person in his general life too. Maybe a bit too attached and emotional, but tries to get better.
Alistair from Dragon Age lmao also of course.

Wilbur Turnblad ❤ Also that he bailed all the segregation protesters out near the end of the movie.

I gave my heart to him exactly in that scene <3

I ALWAYS cry during those scenes. Queen Latifah's singing. Edna's worry when they don't know where Tracy is and how Wilbur is guilty because he did spend a lot of money without her knowledge.
The movie is a master piece

Max from catfish. Low key have a crush on him.
He’s super smart, talented, stands up for people who are taken advantage of, in different episodes you can see him wearing a t-shirt that says “the future is female” “feminist” and “black lives matter”. He takes time off the show to be with his wife.
Honestly, Max is the reason moving forward I will only date a man if he considers himself a feminist, and if he cares about the oppression of people.
Plus I think he’s a hawtie to the max. 👈🏼👈🏼 see what I did there.

At first when I read this I mixed up Nev and Max and was so uncomfortable. Nev definitely gives off the disingenuous niceguy narcissistic dick vibe, even in the show, not to mention the whole sexual assault allegation. Also has self-admitted issues with anger/violence and wrote about in his book how he got expelled from college for punching a woman in the face. Definitely agree with you about Max. Even before knowing about this stuff he was the main reason I watched.

Hank Hill. Not exactly exciting, open-minded or sexy but has a good job, can fix anything around the house and his actions show how much he cares for his wife, son and friends. He's always bailing everyone out of trouble and is definitely a team with Peggy and a mentor with Bobby even though he hates most of his antics.

Yes, and Phil's dad too! Not to mention, Hayley's boyfriend that was played by Adam Devine.
Also, Mitch and Cameron are a great example of a non-stereotypical gay HVM who love both typical gay things and non-gay things. Cam is the music teacher and a very successful football coach in later seasons, when he started as a stay at home dad where Mitch is a successful lawyer and is the shyer/more straight-laced one in the couple.

As someone who has rewatched Degrassi over the last few weeks (LOL) I would say Sean and Marco were HV guys as well as Snake.

Many of Jimmy Stewart’s characters are HVM (he himself is like the OG king of HVM in my book), but in particular, George Bailey from It’s A Wonderful Life. He sacrifices his dreams for the woman and community he cares for, he tells Mary that he’ll lasso the moon for her, he stands up for what he believes in even when he doesn’t stand to profit from it, and when the going gets tough rather than complaining he figures he’ll kill himself to financially save his family and friends first. Every year at Christmas my dad and I have watch this movie together and I feel it’s his subtle way of reminding me of the type of man worth waiting for, and it makes me cry everytime it ends and George realizes how much of a difference his decisions and presence made.
2nd runner up: Mr. Smith goes to Washington. Another great film!

Jim from the office! He gave so much to Pam. Was absolutely dedicated to her even before they got together. He really looked after her. I think he’s proof also that HVM don’t have to be rich af. Just dedicated and sincere.
