I went on a first date with a guy I met through OLD, he seemed... not great online.
He didn't have any real date ideas so I mentioned him taking me out for ice cream after I'm done at the gym, he wanted to go to Dairy queen, I said no, you're not taking me on a date to Dairy queen. He asked what ice cream places there were in town, so I sent him a "Let me google that for you" link which asked for ice cream places in my city. I should have blocked him at this point. I ignored my instincts, & went on a date with him. He drove, but he didn't want to drive around downtown where it's busy so he asked me to drive. I did. I told him I'd meet him at the entrance to the mall closest to the movie theater, we met at the mall because it was a landmark close to downtown. He was in a store on the opposite side of the mall, I had to walk to him. I should have left then. When I got to the store, I finally saw his full body. He had a cute face, & he said he was 5'9, which is my bare minimum height requirement as I'm 5'8, in person, he was about 2 inches shorter than me. He said he worked out a lot, but he was a complete twig, I could have crushed him with a bear hug. At this point, I should have made a run for it as soon as he was distracted & looked away. I felt the urge to do this, but I ignored my instincts, this was my last chance to escape, why did I ignore my instincts. I drove us to the ice cream place, I made my order, which he thankfully paid for, at least I didn't end up wasting my time and money. But he didn't order anything himself, because he had already eaten earlier. Who does this. We talked for a while, & had actually really similar interests, I thought for a moment that I was glad I ignored my instincts. Then he mentioned being anti-vax. I'm a first responder for places that have had covid outbreaks, & he's talking about how he just "doesn't trust the vaccine," & he was upset about how he kept getting banned on Facebook for talking about this stuff, as it was taking away his free speech. He also brought up how bad it was that Trump was banned on Twitter, as it's suppressing his free speech. We're fucking Canadian. Who does this. He brought up subject after subject that I disagreed with him on, & I tried to not argue as much as possible, but I very well could have spent hours arguing if I wanted to. He broke up with his ex- the only girl he's ever dated, because "she had a smaller ass than I did, I'm not into people who don't take care of theirselves." He dated her while he still had a smoking addiction, which he only 'broke' a month ago. He said he was interested in me because I'm an athletic boxer, I take care of myself basically. When I was driving us back to his car at the mall, he asked me how sexually active I was, basically asking if I have a high sex drive or not. He also mentioned jerking off twice a day. & he said "women fall in love with small acts of affection, whereas men fall in love with sex. I'm not telling you to go fuck a bunch of guys, just that you shouldn't hold off for sex that long, or you'll just get guys who only want sex and will leave you after." (Paraphrased). I mentioned earlier on in the date that I was planning on moving countries in a few years, he said we should fuck before I leave. When I parked my car by his, it took an unreasonable amount of time for him to get out. I'm not a confrontational person, & although I never feared for my physical safety, because I could easily take his midget ass in a fight, I was still extremely uncomfortable the entire 2nd half of the date, as soon as he brought up being antivax & the date went from talking about our interests to pseudo arguing. I've had similar bad dates before, always after I suppress my instincts to block these kind of people at the first red flag, but this was the worst one, it just kept going on & on. I hope this is my tipping point, I hope I know now to trust my fucking instincts
